Southern Utah History Partnership (SUHP)
SUHP, a consortium of 10 rural school districts, will establish and maintain a history teaching collaborative that links 30 rural and relatively isolated history teachers with each other; with history, education, and technology faculty from Southern Utah University; and with nationally-recognized experts in history and history education. The SUHP will draw upon general guidelines established by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and the American Historical Association and more specific guidance from the National Council for History Education. Teachers will participate in biannual weekend workshops and two-week residential summer seminars on the university's campus, and they will engage in peer coaching through site visits and electronic communication.
