Newark Museum and Ballantine House [NJ]
The Newark Museum encourages the public in the exploration and appreciation of the arts and natural sciences. Its collections include American art from the colonial era to the present, Native American art, and contemporary and modern art. In the 1885 Ballantine House, also maintained by the museum, visitors learn about the decorative arts in 10 period rooms.
The museum offers exhibits, lectures, planetarium shows, programs for school groups, in-class outreach presentations, electronic field trips, professional development for educators, an educator loan collection, research library access by appointment, and other educational and recreational events.
