Description

The South Florida Museum presents and preserves local natural and cultural history.

Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center [CT]

Description

Owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the Museum and Research Center presents the history and culture of the Pequot and other North American Native peoples, as well as exploring the natural history of the continent.

The museum offers exhibits, guided tours and enrichment programs for school groups, in-class outreach presentations, on-demand professional development workshops, and research library access.

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum [CA]

Description

The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum preserves the history and culture of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native cultures.

The museum offers exhibits, lectures, traditional crafts classes for all ages, guided museum tours and canyon hikes for school groups, in-class outreach presentations, research library access by appointment, and other recreational and educational events.

National Museum of Health and Medicine [DC]

Description

The National Museum of Health and Medicine traces the history of medicine in the United States, with a particular emphasis on military medicine. Permanent exhibits include displays on Abraham Lincoln-related artifacts, artifacts and specimens from the Civil War, and human health and development.

The museum offers exhibits, guided tours for school groups (grades 5-12), workshops and courses, and other educational and recreational events.

Historic Arkansas Museum

Description

The Historic Arkansas Museum preserves five restored antebellum homes, where visitors can learn from living history interpreters about life in frontier Arkansas. In addition, the museum center displays art objects and artifacts from Arkansas history.

The museum offers exhibits, living history demonstrations, tours and educational programs for school groups, loan boxes, and professional development opportunities for educators.

Arizona History Museum

Description

From the Arizona Historical Society website:

"The Arizona History Museum's focus is southern Arizona history from Spanish colonial through territorial eras. Exhibit topics include mining and transportation. The Arizona's Treasures exhibit features Geronimo's rifle and 18th-century Spanish silver artifacts."

National Postal Museum

Description

Housed in DC's Old Post Office, the National Postal Museum guides visitors through the history and development of the U.S. Postal Service, and its operation today.
