The Troutdale Historical Society owns and operates three museums in the Troutdale region. The Barn Museum and Harlow House are historical house museums that are open by appointment. The Rail Depot showcases the history of the railroad next to Troutdale and also serves as a more general local history museum.

Samuel Bell Maxey and his wife, Marilda, moved into their fashionable new home on the south side of Paris, TX, in 1868. Built in the High Victorian Italianate style, the frame house, plus book house and stable, were a progressive addition to the city's architecture and a proper home for the ex-Confederate general and later United States Senator. Maxey moved to Paris with his family in 1857. Construction of the house began in 1867 and it was remodeled in 1911. Members of the Maxey family lived in the house until 1966. The house has been restored and furnished to reflect almost 100 years of continuous use by the Maxey family.

The Gomez Mill House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is the oldest standing Jewish Dwelling in North America. Built in 1720, the home was originally intended as a trading post for local colonists. Today, the home is open to visitors as a historic house museum.

The Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County seeks to preserve and share the history of Indiana County, Pennsylvania. To this end, the society operates a museum and a research library. Exhibit topics include Native American life, farm life, historical medicine, and coal mining.

Rose Hill Manor Park and Children's Museum is a hands-on rural history museum designed specifically for elementary school students. Collection highlights include more than 20 historic carriages and sleighs. Displays include a historic kitchen, broom shop, and carpentry shop, as well as a steam tractor and information on pork butchering. The residence on site was completed in 1792.

The museum offers period rooms, exhibits, scout programs, and tours led by costumed interpreters. Tours meet state educational standards. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. The website offers pre- and post-visit activities.

The Western Neighborhoods Project seeks to preserve and share the history of San Francisco's western neighborhoods—including the Richmond and Sunset Districts.

The Licking County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Licking County, Ohio. To this end, the society operates the Sherwood-Davidson Museum, located within a circa 1825 Federal-style structure and containing period rooms; the 1907 Webb House Museum, containing period rooms; the 1815 Greek Revival Buckingham Meeting House, which has hosted Presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and James A. Garfield and now contains the society library; and the Robbins-Hunter Museum, located within an 1847 Greek Revival structure and containing decorative arts exhibits.

The St. Lawrence County Historical Association seeks to preserve and share the history of St. Lawrence County, New York. To this end, the association operates an archival center and a museum located within the 1833 Silas Wright House.

The Oyster Bay Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Oyster Bay, New York. To this end, the society operates a museum, located within the circa 1720 Earle-Wightman House. The museum contains rooms in the styles of 1740 and 1830, as well as a research library.

The society offers period rooms, a children's tour of the Earle-Wightman House, interactive activities, and an 18th-century-style garden.

The Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site is a 54-acre Mississippian Culture site. Inhabited between 1000 and 1550, the acreage contains a plaza; a village; a ditch; and six mounds, used for burial.
