The Goodhue County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Goodhue County, Minnesota. To this end, the society operates the History Center. Collections include more than 150,000 artifacts, ranging back to prehistoric times. Permanent displays address Native American life, military history, geology, natural history, sports, leisure, costume, agriculture, archaeology, business, and immigration.

The society offers exhibits, customizable one-hour guided tours of the History Center, student educational programs, traveling trunks, traveling exhibits, films for rental, artifacts available for classroom use, research library access, and research assistance. Two weeks advance notice is required for all guided tours. Traveling trunk topics include women in history, rural schools, archaeology, and immigration. The Nishna Heritage Museum primarily presents the history of the Oakland, Iowa area. Additional displays are global in scope. Exhibits include quilts and quilting, historical tools, music playing devices, and dairy equipment. Highlights include an early 20th-century tire changer, Edison phonographs, a butter press, and a switch board.

The museum offers period rooms and exhibits.

The society's museum includes three buildings. The central building is located on the grounds of the Douglas County Courthouse in Armour and originally housed the offices of auditor and register of deeds in 1902. This building was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1976; and exhibits museum collections including clothing, household items, farm tools, office equipment, American Indian artifacts, military items, photographs, and other memorabilia unique to the Douglas County area. In 1981, the Society moved an 1884 country school to county property just east of the museum. It still contains some of its original furnishings along with other school items. Each spring, all second graders in Douglas County are invited to attend "School Days" in the Country School. The third building, known as the "Railroad House," was added in 1988 and is furnished and decorated in the period of the early 1900s. Furnishings include items that were already owned by the museum, as well as items donated and loaned to complete decoration.

The Old State Capitol is a reconstruction of Illinois's fifth statehouse, the first to be located in Springfield. The building served as the seat of state government and a center of Illinois political life from 1839 to 1876. The first floor is composed of a central hall flanked by rooms interpreting government offices, two libraries, and the supreme courtroom. A complex of first-floor rooms also provides an audiovisual theater and staff offices. Recreated second-floor spaces include a rotunda, legislative chambers, and smaller offices and meeting rooms. The building is located in the center of a large landscaped yard surrounded by a replica of the original 1850s ornamental iron fence.

The Miamisburg Historical Society is dedicated preserving the historical heritage of Miamisburg, Ohio, and the surrounding area. The society owns and operates three local historic structures, the Daniel Gebhart Tavern Museum, which serves as a local history museum, the Market Square Building, which serves as the society headquarters and as the location for the society's research room, and Jacob Kercher Pioneer Home, which is open as a historic house museum.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation seeks to increase public interest in architecture and design. Particular emphasis is given to examples within Chicago, Illinois.

The foundation offers a wide variety of walking downtown, neighborhood, suburban, and Frank Lloyd Wright; river; and bus tours. Tours are offered in English, French, German, and Italian. Audio tours are available in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. The foundation also offers exhibits, sustainable architecture lunchtime lectures, monthly DIY green workshops, weekly lunchtime lectures, field trip options, an architecture competition for students, family programs, high school workshops, teacher workshops, and adult education courses. The website offers a teaching resource book and a high school textbook for purchase.

The Gingras Trading Post State Historic Site preserves the 1840s home and trading post of Métis legislator and businessman Antoine Blanc Gingras. Métis, meaning "mixed blood" or "mixed race," is a term used by people of combined Indian and European ancestry to describe themselves. Gingras's hand-hewn oak log store and home are among the few tangible remains of the fur trade in the Red River Valley. Both buildings on Gingras State Historic Site have been restored to their original appearance. Interpretive panels and exhibits about Gingras, Métis heritage, and the fur trade are located in the restored house.

The Lanier Mansion State Historic Site preserves the former home of James Franklin Doughty Lanier (1800-1881), bank president and railroad promoter. The site presents information on both Lanier and life during the 19th century. The structure itself was completed in 1844, and is Greek Revival in style. The grounds include replanted heritage gardens, reflecting the home's Post-Civil War landscaping.

The site offers guided tours, educational outreach programs, heritage gardens with historic plant varieties, and summer camps. Reservations are required for group tours and outreach programs.

The 70-acre Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is a historic house museum. The Tudor Revival manor was built in 1912; and reflects the architecture of Charles S. Schneider (1874-1932), interior design of Hugo F. Huber, and landscaping of Warren H. Manning (1860-1938). Manning favored naturalistic, as opposed to heavily stylized, garden design. The residence is intended to be visually complementary to its surrounding environment. Guests who visited the estate owners, the Sieberlings, included Shirley Temple (born 1928) and Will Rogers (1879-1935). Other structures on site include the Gate Lodge, site of a conversation among Henrietta Seiberling and two men suffering from alcoholism which would determine the guiding principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as a reproduction of the original greenhouse. The Lodge contains an exhibit on the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The estate offers an exhibit, period rooms, gardens, self-guided manor tours, guided manor tours, other guided tours, educational programs for students, traveling trunks, educational outreach presentations, teacher's workshops, a children's club, Scout programs, and collections access. Appointments are required for collections access. Two weeks advance notice is required for group tours. Boxed lunches can be provided with five days advance notice.
