The Carteret County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Carteret County, North Carolina. To this end, the society operates a local history museum. The society's research library, accessible to the public, contains more than 8,000 volumes, archival materials, and photographs. Photographs include works by Clifton Guthrie and Jerry Schumacher. Artifact collections include hunting decoys; quilts; and the buggy of Emiline Pigott, a Confederate spy.

The Jackson County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Jackson County, Missouri. To this end, the society operates a lending library and non-circulating archive; 1859 jail, marshal's home, and museum; and the Harry S Truman Office and Courtroom, where Truman (1884-1972) practiced prior to being elected Senator and 33rd President of the United States. The jail presents local legal and military history between the 1840s and the Civil War.

The Raynham Hall Museum is a historic home depicting life between the 1770s and 1870s. Samuel Townsend, a prosperous international merchant, purchased the property in 1738. Townsend later served on the New York Provincial Congress. Between 1778 and 1779, the Queen's Rangers, led by English Lt. Col. John Graves Simcoe (1752-1806), made the Patriot family's home their headquarters. During this time, legend has it, Sally Townsend overheard Benedict Arnold's plan to surrender the West Point fort to the British; and informed the Culper Spy Ring about Benedict (1741-1801) and his accomplice Major John Andre (1750-1780). The site displays over 500 artifacts, including pieces owned by the Townsends and others made in Long Island.

The museum offers colonial and Victorian period rooms, colonial- and Victorian-style gardens, and children's summer workshops.

The Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site commemorates the site of a British outpost during the revolutionary war and was also the site of one of the worst American defeats during the war. The park offers an impressive variety of activities for visitors, and is home to six historic structures, all of which are open to the public and offer exhibits and/or period rooms.

Hood River County Historical Museum presents the socio-cultural history of Hood River County, Oregon. Topics addressed within permanent exhibits include the daily lives of pioneer, Native American, and area ethnic groups, as well as Japanese Internment after Pearl Harbor.

The Hurley Heritage Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Hurley, New York. To this end, the society operates a museum of local history, located within the 1790 Col. Jonathan Elmendorf House. Main Street is a Historic Landmark District, containing six of Hurley's stone houses built between the late 1600s and 1818; and is used during guided tours to discuss local Dutch heritage.

The Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the historical heritage of Callaway County, which is located in central Missouri. The society maintains a small museum of local history in the society headquarters, which is located in downtown Fulton, MO.

The Schoharie County Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the historical heritage of Schoharie County, NY. The society is headquartered in the Old Stone Fort, a Revolutionary War battle site that is currently operated jointly by Schoharie County and the historical society. The society owns six other buildings in the museum complex.

The Fort Bend Museum Complex presents the local history of the Brazos River and Fort Bend County, Texas. The complex includes the Long-Smith Cottage, the 1883 John M. Moore Home, the McFarlane House, and a history museum. The 1840 Greek Revival Long-Smith Cottage was once the residence of Jane Long (1798-1880), known as the "Mother of Texas." She is thought to be the first English-speaking woman to give birth to a baby in Texas. Today, the cottage is styled to depict 1840s and 1860's middle-class life in Richmond, Texas. The neoclassical 1883 John M. Moore Home belonged to a prominent area rancher and politician, John M. Moore. The house holds period rooms, meeting rooms, and exhibits. The museum offers dioramas of key historical periods, including the 1821 settlement, the Texas Revolution (1835-1836), the plantation period, and the Civil War.

Fort Griffin State Historic Site is located on 506.2 acres with 1,500 feet of river area. The site is home to the partially restored ruins of Old Fort Griffin located on a bluff overlooking the town site of Fort Griffin and the Clear Fork of the Brazos River Valley. The fort was constructed in 1867 and deactivated in 1881. The ruins include a hand-dug well, a mess hall, barracks, a library, a rock chimney, a store, an administration building, a cistern, a hospital, a powder magazine, the foundation of the officers' quarters, the first sergeant's quarters, a restored bakery, and replicas of enlisted men's huts.

The site offers occasional recreational and educational events (including living history events).
