North Carolina Transportation Museum

Description

The North Carolina Transportation Museum interprets the history of transportation in the state, by train, automobile, and other vehicles. Its 57-acre site was once a steam locomotive repair facility, and the depot and roundhouse remain.

The museum offers exhibits, train and turntable rides, programs and self-guided and guided school groups, outreach presentations, a traveling trunk for rent, homeschooler days, camps, and other recreational and educational events.

The Schiele Museum of Natural History involves visitors in the exploration of natural history, as well as human prehistoric history and Native American history. The museum maintains a seasonally-open Catawba Indian village, a recreation of a Stone Age site of human habitation, and a living-history 18th-century backcountry farm.

Description

The Center for Jewish History houses five major Jewish cultural institutions: the American Jewish Historical Society, the American Sephardi Federation, the Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.
