The West Volusia Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of West Volusia County, Florida. To this end, the society operates the 1886 DeLand House Museum, Robert M. Conrad Research and Educational Center, the 1922 DeLand Memorial Hospital, and the Lue Gim Gong Memorial Gardens. The hospital was used for medical purposes until 1948. A separate building behind the main structure served the local African American population. The hospital addresses medical history and African American life, as well as housing collections of elephant figurines, historic toys, and military artifacts. The grounds include two gardens, one of which is devoted to offering a sensory experience for visually and physically impaired visitors. The Lue Gim Gong Memorial Gardens honor Lue Gim Gong (1860-1925), creator of a number of grapefruit and orange varieties.

The DeLand House Museum offers period rooms. The Conrad Center offers exhibits, oral histories, and a research library. The DeLand Memorial Hospital offers period rooms, exhibits, and gardens. The society also offers outreach speakers, a memorial to Lue Gim Gong, and access to his grave site.

The Kelley House Museum presents the history of the logging and shipping industries in and the Victorian architecture of the Mendocino Coast, California. The museum is located within an 1861 residence. Permanent exhibits include artifacts from the 1850 wreck of the Frolic, a clipper ship involved in the international opium trade.

The museum offers exhibits, guided walking tours, gardens, and archival access. Archival access is by appointment only.

The Onondaga Historical Association Museum and Research Center presents the history of Syracuse and Onondaga County, New York. Museum permanent exhibits cover the Franklin Automobile; historic brewing; pottery manufacturing; the Underground Railroad; and county trades, transportation, architecture, settlement, and immigration. Collections include textiles, artwork, decorative arts, Native American artifacts, toys, and locally made commercial products.

The museum offers exhibits, research center access, research assistance, outreach presentations, and educational programs. Note that both research center usage and research assistance require payment. The Taft Museum of Art is housed within the circa 1820 Palladian-style Federal Baum-Longworth-Taft House; and its collections include European paintings and decorative arts, American paintings, and Chinese porcelain. Major artists represented in the collection include Dutch Golden Age painter and etcher Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), Dutch Golden Age portrait artist Frans Hals (circa 1580-1666), Spanish printmaker and painter Francisco Goya (1746-1828), English painter and landscape artist Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788), English Grand Manner portrait artist Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792), French Neoclassical painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867), American painter James Whistler (1834-1903), and American portrait artist John Singer Sargent (1856-1925).

The museum offers exhibits, research library access, 45-minute to one-hour guided tours, self-guided tours, audio tours, children's workshops, a pre-professional high school arts education program, studio programs, lectures, educational programs which complement Ohio and Kentucky educational standards, summer camps, Scout programs, and a teacher resource center with materials for rental. Four weeks advance notice is required for school tours; and two weeks are needed for sensory tours tailored to individuals with hearing, visual, or developmental impairments. The temple is the oldest continuously used Chinese temple in California. On display are art objects, pictures, mining tools, and weapons used in the 1854 Tong War. This Taoist temple is still a place of worship and a fascinating look into the role played by Chinese immigrants in early California history. The temple was built in 1874 as a replacement for another that had burned. Many of the historical objects have been restored and the structure itself stabilized.

The park offers exhibits, tours, and educational and recreational events.

The Penobscot Marine Museum presents the 19th-century history of Penobscot Bay's maritime industry and recreation, as well as the history of maritime professionals from the area who sailed elsewhere. Areas of focus include square-riggers and trade with China. Collection highlights include 19th-century work and recreation vessels; marine artworks by Thomas Buttersworth, James Buttersworth, Robert Salmon, and Antonio Jacobsen; and more than 30,000 glass plate photographs. The museum consists of 12 historic structures, forming a "village" with buildings dating from between 1810 and 1845. One of these is furnished as a Victorian era sea captain's home. The museum owns the 1949 sardine carrier Jacob Pike.

The museum offers a children's room, interactive and traditional exhibits, period rooms, tours, outreach presentations, summer day camps, 10 educational programs, and library access. The library is open by appointment only, and research assistance requires payment. The museum is partially handicapped accessible. The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude presents the history of North Central Idaho. Collections include more than 10,000 archival materials; 150 years of textiles; weaponry, some of which was used in the 1877 Nez Perce War; Nez Perce artifacts; a range of historic office machinery, including a 1902 Burroughs “Moon Hopkins” bookkeeping machine and an 1895 Dactyle calculator; world minerals; mining equipment; medical artifacts, including a 1900 fetal monitor and a tonsillectomy chair; and artifacts of Chinese immigrants. The museum also owns many of Polly Bemis' previous possessions. Bemis (1853-1933), originally from China, was brought to an Idaho mining camp as a female slave. Roughly 12,000 artifacts, some of which date to the 14th century, are on display.

The Rancho de Guadalupe Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Guadalupe, California. To that end, the society operates a museum, a historic jail, and a non-circulating library. Artifacts on display include Native American adobes and pieces representative of the cultures which succeeded the Chumash—the Chinese, Filipinos, Mexicans, Swiss, Italians, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese.

The Nevada County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Nevada County, California. To this end, the society operates the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, North Star Mine Powerhouse and Pelton Wheel Museum, Firehouse Museum, and Searls Library. The railroad museum presents local transportation history. Collection highlights include seven historic railroad cars, dating from 1889 to circa 1940. The mining museum's collection highlights include a working Cornish pump; working stamp mill; and the largest Pelton wheel, a mechanism for supplying air to power the mines, ever made. The Firehouse Museum, housed in an 1861 structure, presents exhibits on the Maidu people, the Donner Party, Chinese-American daily life and religion between 1877 and 1938, and vernacular items dating from circa 1850 to present.

The society offers monthly speakers and both library and archive access. Research assistance is available for a fee. The railroad museum and firehouse museum offer exhibits. The mining museum offers self-guided tours, period dioramas, and exhibits. The website offers digital historical and genealogical databases.

The Captain Forbes House Museum presents the living quarters of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes (1804-1889), one of the major players in increasing U.S. maritime trade with China circa 1830. In addition to his status as merchant and ship owner, Forbes was also involved in philanthropy, art, and design. The structure itself dates to 1833 and is in the Greek Revival style. Collections include Chinese silver, paintings, furniture, porcelain, and bronzes (which possess deeply embedded cultural significance within China).

The museum offers tours, lectures, educational programs, exhibits, storytelling, hands-on activities, and slide presentations.
