Beginning in 1849, the Andrew Low House belonged to cotton factor, Andrew Low, and his family. Low's daughter-in-law, Juliette Gordon Low, founded the Girl Scouts after being inspired by her friend Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the British Boy Scouts. The Italianate structure contains period furnishings.

The house offers guided tours. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more.

The Cannonball House, named for damage sustained in the Civil War, is a Greek Revival Structure dating to approximately 1853. The house contains period furnishings, contents of the founder's parlors of the ΑΔΙΙ and ΦΜ societies, and a collection of Civil War era artifacts. A two-story kitchen house in the back, once the quarters of the family servants, is one of few such surviving structures. Collection highlights include Civil War uniforms, early 1800s face shields, and a circa 1850 Bohemian crystal punch bowl.

The house offers period rooms; exhibits; tours, which can be customized to educational needs and focal topics; educational programming designed to meet state educational criteria; demonstrations at special events; and a December children's Victorian tea party.

The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History presents African American history. The gardens contain plants which would have grown during the lifetime of Lucy Craft Laney (1854-1933), the museum's inspiration, a woman devoted to educating African American youths.

The museum offers exhibits, a summer camp, and a period garden.

The Society operates both the St. Simons Lighthouse and the Maritime Center. The Lighthouse was built in 1872 and today presents and interprets the history and culture of coastal Georgia. The Maritime Center at the Historic Coast Guard Station researches, collects, and preserves artifacts, and other memorabilia and interprets events and information pertaining to the maritime history and marine ecology of the Georgia coast—such as the history of the U.S. Coast Guard Station, the evolution of Georgia's chain of barrier islands, and the Georgia marshland ecosystem—and to present related exhibitions, promotional activities, and educational programs of interest to the general public.

The society offers educational programs and occasional recreational and educational events; the center and lighthouse offer exhibits and tours.

On May 27, 1864, the Federal Army, having been stopped in its advance on Atlanta two days earlier by the Battle of New Hope Church, attempted to outflank the Confederate position. Some 14,000 Federal troops were selected for the task, and General Howard was given command. After a five-hour march, Howard's force reached the vicinity of Pickett's Mill and prepared to attack. Waiting were 10,000 Confederate troops under the command of General Cleburne. The Federal assault began at 5 p.m. and continued into the night. Daybreak found the Confederates still in possession of the field. The Federals had lost 1,600 men compared to the Confederate loss of 500. The Confederate victory resulted in a one-week delay of the Federal advance on Atlanta. Pickett's Mill is one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation. Visitors can travel roads used by Federal and Confederate troops, see earthworks constructed by these men, and walk through the same ravine where hundreds died. An 1850's cabin is located on site, and a research library offers maps, books, microfilm, newspapers, and other materials.

The site offers an introductory film, exhibits, 4 miles of trails, a list of Georgia educational standards met by the topic of the site (available online), special event first person and narrative demonstrations performed as living history, a student quiz (available online), guided tours, educational activities, and a research library.

The Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site is a 54-acre Mississippian Culture site. Inhabited between 1000 and 1550, the acreage contains a plaza; a village; a ditch; and six mounds, used for burial.

The site offers exhibits, an interpretive nature trail, and a picnic area.

Cobb County Landmarks and Historical Society works to preserve important structures and landmarks throughout the whole of Cobb County, and focuses on both preservation and education. The society also owns and operates two museums, the Root House Museum and the Power Cabin. Both a fully restored historic homes, and play host to school field trips and visitors.

The society offers traveling trunk exhibits and lectures, tours designed for both school and home-schooled groups, and special classes for children. The website offers visitor information and an events calendar.

The Caldwell Birthplace is a historic house museum showcasing the birthplace of famous author Erskine Caldwell. In addition to being preserved in its condition at the time of Caldwell's birth, the museum offers books written by and about Erskine Caldwell, items that belonged to Caldwell or his parents, and photographs from various period of his life.

The museum is open on weekends and offers self-guided tours. The website offers visitor information and recent news regarding the museum.

Robert Toombs is notable for his service during the mid-1800s as a U.S. Congressman and Senator. He is also known for the creation of the Georgia state constitution, which was not changed until 1945. The home is a beautiful piece of Southern architecture, and today serves as a historic house museum.

The home offers tours, a variety of exhibits, a short video portraying Toombs, and special events including lectures and special exhibits. The website offers a brief biography of Toombs, an events calendar, and visitor information.

The DeKalb History Center preserves and presents the history of DeKalb County, Georgia. The Center is composed of three distinct organizations, the McCurdy Family Research Center, which preserves the genealogical history of DeKalb County; the Jim Cherry Museum, a local history museum; and the society itself.

The Jim Cherry Museum features four permanent exhibits: DeKalb: The First Hundred Years, Johnny Reb and Billy Yank: The Life of the Common Soldier, DeKalb at War, and DeKalb Then and Now. The museum also offers guided tours and periodic events. The McCurdy Family Research Center offers genealogical research materials and services.
