The Island County Historic Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Island County, Washington from the Ice Age through the mid-20th century. Topics given particular emphasis include maritime history, Pacific Northwest Native American cultures, military history, and the settlers of 1853. Collections and archives number more than 19,000 items. The society operates a museum of local history, located on the former site of the 1870 Mother Fay’s Hotel.

The society offers exhibits, one-hour to 90-minute guided tours for students, library access, and research assistance. Research assistance requires payment of a fee. Two weeks advance notice is required for all visits by more than five individuals. Some student tours include pre-visit curriculum materials.

The Pacific County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Pacific County, Washington. To this end, the society operates the Pacific County Museum, the collections of which include more than 10,000 photographs, 1,500 artifacts, and historical documents. Areas of focus include Native American history, natural history, transportation, maritime history, daily life, and natural resources.

The museum offers exhibits and research collection access. Access to the research collection requires an appointment with the director.

The Ocracoke Preservation Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Ocracoke Island, NC. To this end, the society operates a museum and research library within the circa 1900 David Williams House. The residence's namesake and original owner served as the first Coast Guard Chief at the local station. The museum contains period rooms, maritime artifacts, and contemporary art.

The Greek Revival Rotch-Jones-Duff House was built in 1834 for whaling merchant William Rotch, Jr. The interior is furnished to the different periods of the residence's occupation (1834-1981). The home was also occupied in turn by the Jones and Duff families, ship's agents and coal, whale oil, and oil transportation professionals. The surrounding gardens most closely reflect the period 1851 to 1935.

The museum offers period rooms, exhibits, 30-minute self-guided tours of the home, gardens, one-hour guided group tours, guided group tours with tea or a luncheon, fourth and fifth grade educational programs, lectures, and educational programs. The Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild preserves and operates two historic vessels—the 1902 barkentine Gazela and the 1902 tugboat Jupiter.

The guild offers a variety of educational programs, ranging in length between three hours and nine weeks.

The Bourne Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Bourne, Massachusetts. To this end, the society operates the Aptucxet Trading Post Museum. Originally built in 1627, the trading post was the site of the first private commercial enterprise to use wampum. Today it sits on a complex with the circa 1893 Gray Gables Railroad Station, built for U.S. President Grover Cleveland (in office 1893-1896); a replica salt works; a historic windmill; and an herb garden. The Jonathon Bourne Historical Center, located in an 1897 library, also offers local history exhibits.

The society offers exhibits, archival access, and an annual maritime lecture series.

The Museum of the City of New York presents the history of New York City and its people. Permanent exhibits offer artifacts and information relevant to New York's theatrical history, interior design, firefighting, maritime commerce, and toys made or used in the city. The collection consists of 1.5 million items in the following categories: decorative arts; prints, photographs, paintings, sculptures, and drawings of the city and/or its people; theater and Broadway; toys; and costumes and textiles.

The museum offers a 25-minute introductory multimedia presentation, exhibits, lectures, performances, guided school tours, educational programs, self-guided tours, summer programs, educator workshops, an after school architecture and urban planning program, and Saturday American history classes. Reservations are required for all school groups, guided or self-guided. Headsets and neck loops are available for hard-of-hearing visitors, and all films are captioned.
