The Society was founded in 1990 by a group of avid professional and amateur local historians with a passion to share Columbus history. The Society was formed to protect and share the history of the broader community, with an emphasis on the core city and county environs. The Society works closely with other local historical organizations to cross-promote activities, education, events, preservation, programs, and publications offered throughout the community. The Society provides outstanding free public programs, offsite exhibits, publications, elementary and adult education, and its signature summer bus tour series. The Society collects Columbus and Central Ohio historic artifacts and documents the stories of people, places, and events in Columbus and Ohio history.

Located in Carrollton Illinois, the Society's mission is to research, collect, care for, exhibit, and interpret items that illustrate the history of Greene County from settlement to the present time, and place it in the context of the history of the State of Illinois. Located in the Lee-Baker-Hodges House, the organization disseminates historical information by publicizing such material in newspapers or otherwise, by developing educational programs, and by operating a museum for the benefit of the public.

Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust [PA]

Description

The Trust is a nonprofit organization established in 2002 in response to the threat to demolish the historic 18th-century Jones Log Barn. The Trust's mission is to preserve and protect historic and cultural resources in Tredyffrin Township for the benefit of present and future generations and to educate the public about the preservation and protection of historic and cultural settings.
