The Pope House Museum Foundation operates the Pope House Museum, which depicts the life of a well-to-do African American family circa 1900. The house, built in 1901, was the residence of Dr. Manassa Thomas Pope (1858-1934) and his family. Dr. Pope was a 1919 mayoral candidate, an officer in the Spanish American War, and one of the earliest graduates of Shaw University's Leonard school of Medicine. The collections consist of artifacts and documents—with the earliest dating to 1851.

The museum is currently closed for restoration.

The Adams County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Adams County, PA, and its people. To this end, the society operates a museum, located within the dormitory of the first U.S. Lutheran seminary, founded in 1826. The building later served as a Civil War hospital. Exhibit topics include iron works, social classes, pre-history, county development between 1745 and 1945, the Civil War and Battle of Gettysburg, mortuary equipment and mourning practices, religion, education, children's toys, furniture making, seminary history, and circa 1900 dorm life. Other holdings include more than 200,000 photographs and negatives, manuscripts, and county records.

The society offers exhibits, guided museum tours, guided behind-the-scenes tours, research library access, and research services. Appointments are required for all tours to ensure docent availability, with tours only being offered to groups of 10 or more. Students and members may use the research library free of charge. A fee is charged for research conducted upon request.

The Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site presents the circa 1819 home in which Whitman was born, as well as information on his life. The home was built by Whitman's father and now contains 19th-century furnishings. Collections include more than 100 letters, artifacts, and archival materials. Walt Whitman (1819-1892) was a famous poet, often referred to as the father of free verse. His works contain aspects of both Transcendentalism and Realism, and he faced censure during his lifetime for the sexuality of his poems.

The site offers educational programs, an introductory film, guided tours, exhibits, and a picnic area.

The Minnehaha Depot was built in 1875 in order to replace a smaller station on the first railroad line from Chicago to the Twin Cities. The Depot is small, but is of an unusual and delicate construction. Today, the depot still stands as a piece of living history for visitors to enjoy.

The depot offers guided tours during the summer and is open during the schoolyear by appointment. The website offers basic visitor information.

St. Ignatius Mission is an 1890s religious structure located in the present-day Flathead Indian Reservation. The mission contains 61 paintings by one of its brothers. Paintings include depictions of the Salish Lord. A museum presents artifacts related to both the mission and Native American peoples.

The Fort Verde State Historic Park commemorates Fort Verde, which was in use between 1865 to 1891, rendering it an Indian Wars period fortification. By 1865, area settlers had demanded protection from the local Native American peoples, and the Army responded by sending volunteer units—almost entirely of Mexican heritage. A number of original structures still stand. Visitors can enter three historic living quarters (those of the commanding officer, bachelors, and the doctors and surgeons), furnished in the style of the 1880s.

The park offers exhibits, period rooms, an introductory film, and a picnic area.

The Ohio County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Ohio County, Indiana. To this end, the society operates a museum, housed in a 19th-century plow factory. This museum focuses on local life in the 1800s and early 1900s. Collection highlights include a record-winning, early 20th-century race boat called the Hoosier Boy and an auto-harp.

The Bourne Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Bourne, Massachusetts. To this end, the society operates the Aptucxet Trading Post Museum. Originally built in 1627, the trading post was the site of the first private commercial enterprise to use wampum. Today it sits on a complex with the circa 1893 Gray Gables Railroad Station, built for U.S. President Grover Cleveland (in office 1893-1896); a replica salt works; a historic windmill; and an herb garden. The Jonathon Bourne Historical Center, located in an 1897 library, also offers local history exhibits.

The society offers exhibits, archival access, and an annual maritime lecture series.

The Evergreen Museum and Library presents more than 50,000 objects once owned by Baltimore's railway royalty—the Garrett family. The collection, which includes manuscripts, decorative arts, artworks, and more than 8,000 rare books, is housed within the residence in which the Garretts lived between 1878 and 1942. Key artworks include those of Degas, Picasso, and a variety of post-Impressionists; and the museum boasts one of the largest privately held collections of both Japanese minor arts and Tiffany glass. Also within the house is the Bakst Theatre, decorated by Leon Bakst, costume and set designer of the Ballet Russes, a major visual influence of the early 1900s. A 28,600-volume library is available for use. The non-circulating collection's strength is 16th- and 17th-century English literature and history.

The museum offers guided tours, concerts, lectures, library access, and boxed lunches for group tours (at an additional price). Groups of 20 or more require advance registration.

Custer State Park commemorates the 1874 military expedition of Lt. Colonel George A. Custer (1839-1876). He entered the Black Hills seeking a location for a Dakota Territory frontier post, to map the area, and to catalog its natural resources. These resources included gold, triggering a rush to the area and substantial environmental damage. The park also include The Badger Hole, home of Charles Badger Clark (1883-1957), first South Dakota poet laureate, and the Gordon Stockade built between 1874 and 1875. Clark is best known for his cowboy poetry.

The park offers gold panning demonstrations, hands-on gold panning, tours of The Badger Hole, and interpretive signage near the stockade. The website offers a printable geocaching activity.
