The Knott House Museum was first built in the early 1800s, and opened as a museum in 1992. Today, visitors to the museum will take a step back in time as they enter the house, as the house is furnished in its original, Victorian-era furniture. Upstairs, visitors are treated to two exhibits on the history of Tallahassee and the Knott family's special role in that history.

Across Newport Harbor stands the largest coastal fortification in the United States. Visitors to this engineering and architectural masterpiece can see where the soldiers lived, enter the casemates, explore the tunnel system, and climb the bastions for breathtaking views. From 1824 to 1950, Fort Adams housed generations of our soldiers, today it still stands ready for exploration.

The Katahdin Iron Works is located in rural Maine and was the state's only iron works installation. The iron works operated between 1843 and 1890, and today stands as a monument to the industrial age in Maine. Visitors can view the carefully preserved iron furnaces and buildings, which were restored in 1966. In addition to the Iron Works, the state historic site also offers many options for outdoor activity, including hiking and camping.

The Chapman Historical Museum is "located near downtown Glens Falls, a small city at the southeastern edge of the Adirondack Mountains, an hour north of Albany, New York. Today the museum consists of the restored Victorian home of the DeLong family, a changing exhibition gallery, research archive and gift shop." The museum also provides a wealth of educational programs tailored for children of different ages and is working on a Glens Falls historical site.

The Smith-McDowell House is located south of Asheville, NC, and is notable for its unusual brick construction. The house is a classic circa 1840 plantation home, and was most likely built using slave labor. Today, the house is on the National Register of Historic Places, and serves as both a museum of Western North Carolina and a historic house museum.

The site offers historical information about the house, visitor information, a listing of current and past exhibits, an online store, an events calendar, and educational resources including tour information and lesson plans. Visitors to the site should note that the website appears to be under construction, and some of the features, such as the store and educational information, are not currently working.

Rokeby Museum is a 90-acre historic site and National Historic Landmark that was home to a remarkable Quaker family from 1793 to 1961. From early settlers to radical abolitionists to distinguished artists and writers, each generation of Robinsons left its mark on the site, the state, and the country. Rokeby was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1997 for its unsurpassed underground railroad history. The Museum's mission is to "connect visitors with the human experience of the underground railroad and with the Robinson family, who lived on and farmed this land for nearly 200 years." We ofter a primary source document-based underground railroad program both on site and in the classroom as well as two kits exploring abolitionist history. The site includes a fully furnished Federal style house, eight historic farm buildings, and acres of hiking trails

The Three Lakes Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Three Lakes and all of northeastern Wisconsin. The society owns and operates a museum, which features artifacts and memorabilia from the Three Lakes region along with a restored log cabin. The cabin serves as a historic house museum where visitors can gain an appreciation for pioneer life in the northern midwest.

Buchanan's Birthplace State Park is located in the gap of Tuscarora Mountain. The park is dedicated in the honor of our nation's 15th president, James Buchanan (in office 1857-1861). Currently a stone pyramid stands on the site of the original cabin where Buchanan was born in 1791. Visitors to the park can take in the majesty of the pyramid and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities in the 18.5 acre park.

Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park is the site of a complex of buildings erected around the original Santa Cruz Mission. Part of the cluster, the Neary-Rodriguez Adobe was built in 1791 and is the last of the mission's many buildings to survive. The single-story adobe has been restored to its original appearance. Misión la Exaltacion de la Santa Cruz was the 12th mission built in California. It was completed during the 1790s. Damaged by several earthquakes, it collapsed in 1857.

This is the site of the oldest building in Santa Barbara and the second oldest in California. Visitors can step back and view this historic site surrounded by modern buildings. El Cuartel, the oldest existing building in Santa Barbara, is all that remains of the last of four Royal Presidios (Spanish military outposts) built in Alta California. The presidio in Santa Barbara was built in 1782. It served as the military and government headquarters for the lands between Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo until 1846. Two original buildings have been restored and five others reconstructed. Handmade adobe blocks were used to reconstruct the Padres' Quarters and Presidio Chapel.
