Visitors to this site can discover the story of John G. Neihardt, Nebraska's Poet Laureate and author of Black Elk Speaks. John G. Neihardt called Bancroft, Nebraska home from 1900 to 1920. Visitors can see the study where the famous poet wrote many of his works or visit the interpretive center and walk in the Sioux Prayer Garden. Among the many objects on exhibit in the memorial room are items Lakota Holy Man Black Elk gave to Neihardt over the course of their friendship, including the sacred hoop of the world, a drum, and a pipe. The Neihardt Center has a library of secondary sources exploring Neihardt's life and legacy available to researchers for inhouse use.

The museums of Hardin County, OH, include the Hardin County Historical Museum, a museum of local history, and the turn-of-the-century Hardin Historic Village and Farm. The village consists of the Staadt Log House, general store, Beech Grove one-room schoolhouse, and the Ada Railroad Building, as well as exhibits of historic agricultural equipment. Exhibits within the Hardin County Historical Museum address Native American life, Kenton toys, and the fine arts, among other topics.

Today Fort Fetterman is preserved as a reminder of that colorful era known as the "winning of the west." A restored officer's quarters and an ordnance warehouse are original buildings. They stand among the many visible foundations of the Fort and Fetterman City. These two buildings house interpretive exhibits and artifacts of the Fort's history, Fetterman City, and its Indian predecessors. The visitor is encouraged to walk the grounds where interpretive signs describe the Fort's buildings and activities. These two buildings house maps, drawings, photographs, artifacts, and dioramas which interpret the history of the Indians, military, and civilians of Fort Fetterman and Fetterman City. The visitor is encouraged to walk the interpretive trail where signs describe the historic site and lead to a gazebo overlooking Crook’s Camp and the Indian Country to the north.

The Woolwich Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Woolwich, Maine. To this end, the society operates a local history museum. The museum is located within an 1810 barn, and contains artifacts from the late 18th through early 20th centuries. Collections include archaeological findings, Native American artifacts, maritime paintings and photographs, quilts, sewing artifacts, an early 19th-century loom, domestic devices, decorative arts, and farming tools. Exhibit topics include ice harvesting.

The society offers exhibits. Tours of the 1757 Meeting House can be arranged upon request. The museum is open in July and August. However, it can be made available throughout the year.

The Tehachapi Museum presents the history of Tehachapi, CA. Exhibit topics addressed include women of note, children, Native American life, early man, costumes and textiles, geology, the railway, and Ice Age animals.

Nestled atop a ridge in the Tehachapi Mountains, overlooking Sand Canyon to the east and the Tehachapi valley to the west, Tomo-Kahni, or "Winter Village," was the site of a Kawaiisu (Nuooah) Village. The location was likely chosen for its moderate temperature and plentiful resources. The Kawaiisu migrated from the Great Basin and made the Tehachapi their home for two to three thousand years. The Kawaiisu are noted for their finely woven baskets of intricate and colorful design.

The park offers exhibits and tours.

The Slater Memorial Museum presents world culture through a collection of fine and decorative arts. Collections include 18th through 19th century American art and decorative arts; African and Oceanic sculpture; casts of Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Renaissance sculptures; Native American artifacts; Tokugawa Period Japanese art; Chinese and Korean art; local maritime artifacts; and European decorative and fine arts from between 1600 and 1800. The museum is located within a circa 1886 Romanesque Revival structure.

The museum offers exhibits, guided tours, and weekly art classes for children. Four to six weeks advance notice is required for guided tours.
