The Josephine County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Josephine County, OR. To this end, the society operates the Schmidt House Museum and a research library. The Craftsmen-style Schmidt House was completed in 1910. Today the interior contains many pieces which once belonged to the daughters of the original owners. The museum houses exhibits on children's life, sewing, period kitchen work, the owner's circa 1900 grocery shop, and local historical topics. Oral interpretation uses the Schmidt family to discuss local homesteading, domestic life, business, farming, gold mining, and transportation.

The society offers exhibits, guided tours, living history outreach programs, research library access, and research assistance. A fee is charged for use of the library by non-members and for research conducted upon request.

The Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum is a replica of a typical late 19th-century one-room schoolhouse. The interior is furnished to period, and costumed docents offer information on school life.

The Caldwell Heritage Museum presents the history of Caldwell County, NC. Collections include medical, musical, and military artifacts, as well as historic cameras. Permanent exhibits detail county history from pre-colonial times to present day. Exhibit topics include local Native Americans, pioneers and the Revolutionary War, county formation, the Civil War, the fire department, railroads, furniture and industries, the military, children's lives, vernacular tools, local schools, and Davenport College. The museum is located within the final Davenport College structure. The college offered higher education opportunities to women between 1855 and 1933.

The museum offers exhibits and a reading and listening room. If local schools are closed, dismissed early, or have delayed openings due to weather, the museum schedule will be altered for the day.

The Historical Society of Cecil County seeks to preserve and share the history of Cecil County, MD and its people. To this end, the society operates a research library and museum. The library offers 12,000 newspapers, more than 2,000 books, souvenir booklets, pamphlets, various photographic media, letters, wills, land records, receipts, organization records, and other materials. Museum collections include furnishings, Victorian dollhouses, local artworks, and other artifacts. The museum's permanent exhibits address military history, log home living, country stores, and kitchens in early colonial America.

The Windham Textile and History Museum presents the history and influence of the U.S. textile industry. Particular focus is given to 1870 through 1920 cotton thread manufacturers in eastern Connecticut; the ethnicity, duties, and recreation of mill workers; and the role of mill managers and employees in U.S. industrialization. The museum is housed within two 1877 structures, once part of the Willimantic Linen Company complex.

The museum offers exhibits, 90-minute guided student tours, hands-on activities for students, slide presentations for students, outreach programs for students, and research library access. The library offers materials on mills, immigration, Connecticut history, and textiles. The website offers PowerPoint presentations for use in the classroom, short videos, and worksheets.

The Hampton Historical Society of Hampton, NH is a local history organization with its own museum, the Tuck Museum. The Tuck Museum currently consists of many 20th century historical buildings including the Museum building, barn, beach cottage, schoolhouse, fire museum, well, and various monuments and markers. The collection contains period school equipment, antique fire-fighting tools, maps, photographs, painting, and other authentic local items.

The site offers group tours for school groups and customized educational programs for grades 1,2,3, and 8. Home-school activities are also available.

The Society manages and operates the state's Museum of History, which preserves and presents the history of the state. Exhibits include a Cheyenne tipi; a fully-stocked covered wagon ready for a trip on the Oregon Trail; a 1950s diner made by the Valentine Industries; and a locomotive made in 1880 for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad. In the same complex, the society maintains the 1847 Potawatomi Mission, once operated as a boarding school for children of the Potawatomi Indians, and the one-room Stach School, interpreted as it was in the 1910s and 1920s.

The society offers research library access and school tours to orient middle- and high-school students to the library; the museum offers exhibits, tours (including standards-based school tours), and occasional recreational and educational events. The mission offers tours, a small exhibit on Kansas missions, and a period classroom for school groups; the Stach School offers school tours and "Rural School Days"—four-hour programs for fourth- and fifth-grade students that introduce them to student life in 1920.

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is recognized as one of America's most intact Civil War battlefields. The park has a museum and a collection of early Ozark buildings to tour, and interprets the effects of the Civil War on the civilian population in this area. The park protects the battle site and interprets the Battle of Prairie Grove, where on December 7, 1862, the Confederate Army of the Trans-Mississippi clashed with the Union Army of the Frontier in a day of fierce fighting.

The Frederick County Landmarks Foundation maintains two historic sites, the Beatty-Cramer House Site and the Schifferstadt Architectural Museum. The Beatty-Cramer House is the oldest home in Frederick County, dating back to 1732. The Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is colonial German stone house built in 1758. Both sites teach about Frederick County's local history and architecture, focusing on the era of the French and Indian War.

The Beatty-Cramer House offers school tours and occasional education programs. The Schifferstadt Architectural Museum offers occasional educational programs for students and specialized lesson plans for 3rd and 4th grade Maryland teachers.

The Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama is an outdoor classroom that is designed to educate children about local history and nature. The site has a turn-of-the-century school house and farmstead, a general store, and an Interpretative Center. "Learning Labs" that focus on nature are also available in addition to the history labs.

The site offers history education programs for school groups that include a turn-of-the-century school lesson in the schoolhouse, visit the blacksmith shop and general store, and the Wiregrass farmstead where they will participate in 1900's farm chores and recreation.
