The Columbus Historical Preservation Trust operates the 1886 Stafford Opera House and Museum, Dilue Rose Harris House Museum, Alley Log Cabin and Tool Museum, Tate-Senftenburg-Brandon House Museum, and the the Mary Elizabeth Hopkins Santa Claus Museum. The Dilue Harris house, Tate-Senftenburg-Brandon house, and Santa Claus museum are listed separately within this database. The opera house is Texas' largest flat-floored opera house in existence today.

The opera house offers dramatic performances and dinners. The trust also offers exhibits within its other museums, educational workshops, and seminars. Reservations are required for groups of seven or more who would like a historic house tour.

Smallwood's Retreat is the 1760 home of General William Smallwood, the highest ranking Revolutionary War officer from Maryland and three-time governor. From this site, Smallwood operated a tobacco plantation, which at one point held 56 slaves and indentured servants, until his death in 1792. The interior is supplied with 18th-century furniture which matches the estate inventory.

The site offers period rooms and tours led by costumed interpreters. Tours are available April 27th through October seventh.

The Rochester Hills Museum presents the history of the greater Rochester, MI, area. The museum sits on a family property dating back to 1823. Original structures on site date to between 1840 and the early 1900s, with the exhibits located within a 1927 dairy barn. Topics covered include industry, settlement, agriculture, and culture.

Owned and restored by Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, the 1841 Huddleston Farmhouse is open to the public as a museum where visitors learn about the daily lives of John and Susannah Huddleston and their 11 children, as well as the travelers who crowded the porches and yard and rented the farmhouse's two "travelers' kitchens" for cooking and sleeping. Travelers' diaries, archaeological digs, county records, and recollections of the Huddlestons' descendants are part of the guided tour that paints a rich picture of real lives in a young state.

The Granville Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the historical heritage of Granville, OH, and the surrounding area. The society owns and operates a local history museum, which showcases the society's impressive collection of historic artifacts, many of which were collected by the society as early as 1885.

The Alamogordo Museum of History presents the socio-cultural history of Alamogordo, Otero County, and the Tularosa Basin, New Mexico. Topics addressed include Native Americans, railroad workers, miners, and ranchers.

The Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum is located within the adulthood residence of Civil War officer Joshua Chamberlain (1828-1914). Best known for his strategic command of Little Round Top at the Battle of Gettysburg, Chamberlain also commanded the Union troops during the Confederate infantry's official surrender to the Union, served as President of Bowdoin College, and was elected Governor of Maine. Topics addressed include Chamberlain's family, career, and life story.

The Sterling Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Sterling, NY. To this end, the society operates the Little Red School House Museum. Housed within an 1825 schoolhouse, the museum contains exhibits on military history, area industry, and local artifacts, among other topics.

The society offers exhibits and an hour-and-15-minute narrated boat tour of Fair Haven's bay.

The Suffolk County Historical Society offers a small museum containing artifacts from the county's history. The collection of artifacts includes Suffolk's maritime history, its Algonquin predecessors, and furniture, tools and personal belongings that were part of the everyday lives of Suffolk's pioneers.

Admission is free and tours are self-guided. There are no educational programs or curriculum materials offered for school groups.

Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village is a living history museum, which consists of several restored log cabins. Topics covered include the Civil War and pioneer life.
