Mann House [MI]

Description

The Mann House, built in 1883 and furnished with pieces from the 1840s to the turn of the century, allows visitors a view into the life of Michiganians at the close of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

The house offers exhibits, guided tours, and special programs for school groups.

Michigan Historical Museum

Description

"The flagship of the Michigan Historical Museum System, the Michigan Historical Museum offers you Michigan's rich past, from the time of the state's earliest peoples to the late 20th century."

The museum offers exhibits; self-guided and guided tours and programs for school groups; recreational and educational events; and the yearly BIG History Program, which allows teachers to use the museum as a classroom for five days, open acceptance by application.

Mahoning Valley Historical Society and the Arms Family Museum of Local History [OH]

Description

The Arms Family Museum is housed in Greystone, a century-old Arts and Crafts-style residence. On the first floor, in original period rooms, visitors can experience the Arms's love of handicraft, medieval architecture and design, and the natural environment. The lower level and second floor feature exhibits that explore the history of all the people who have lived in the Mahoning Valley. Artifacts displayed and interpreted in changing galleries help the visitor understand the way of life in the Mahoning Valley for different people at different times, whether Native American, pioneer settler, Welsh coal miner, African American freeman, or Eastern European immigrant.

The museum offers exhibits, guided tours for student groups, teacher resource kits for loan, curriculum guides, teacher in-services, in-class traveling suitcase outreach presentations, and research library access.

Heritage Museum and Cultural Center [MI]

Description

The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center promotes historical preservation, education, and research that relates to Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and the surrounding region through the presentation of exhibits and programs to the public.

The museum offers exhibits, educational tours for students in all grade levels, lending kits, outreach in-classroom presentations, curriculum guides, and research library access.

Missouri History Museum

Description

The Missouri History Museum, operated by the Missouri Historical Society, presents and interprets the state's history to the public. Through a wide range of exhibits and programming, it highlights such events and personages as the Louis and Clark Expedition and the Louisiana Purchase, Charles Lindbergh, and local Native American populations.

The museum offers a range of educational programs and tours for all grade levels, history boxes for rent, historical reenactor presentations for the classroom, research library access and orientation programs for students and educators, theatrical performances, and educational and recreational events

Holland Museum [MI]

Description

The Holland Museum features permanent exhibits on Holland's history "from settlement to city" and over 400 years of Dutch history in its Dutch Galleries. The Archives and Research Library, in the same building, houses the museum's collection of books, papers, and photographs related to Holland's history. Four Dutch art galleries exhibit a collection of 17th- to 19th-century paintings and decorative arts.

The museum offers educational tours for all grade levels, teaching resources for rent, research library access, and occasional recreational and educational events.

Smoky Hill Museum [KS]

Description

The Smoky Hill Museum preserves, presents, and interprets the history of the Smoky Hills region. Exhibits include "Crossroads of the Heartland," which traces the area's history; the Prairie Education Lab, which recreates life in an 1860s cabin; and "One Keeper's Place," where children can solve interactive history mysteries.

The museum offers exhibits, educational tours and programs, and occasional recreational and educational events.
