The society is dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of artifacts, documents, and records pertaining to the history of Branford provenance. It also maintains a museum in the 1724 Harrison House.
The museum offers tours and exhibits; the society offers lectures and research library access. School groups are welcome to come by appointment, and background information is offered to local schools.
The Carousel Museum is proud to house one of the largest collections of antique carousel pieces in the country. Visitors can experience the "Golden Age of the Carousel" on their own, or with tour guides who will reveal the colorful history and development of the hand-carved animals that have found their place in America's rich folk art history.

Robert Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood, became chairman of the Pullman Company at the turn of the 20th century. He built Hildene, a Georgian Revival mansion, in 1905 in the scenic village of Manchester, Vermont. It became home to only Lincoln descendants until 1975, longer than any other Lincoln residence. Today, its historic home, gardens, trails, woods, and farm are preserved on 412 acres of quintessential Vermont landscape. Our camps and school programs foster children's love of learning in a safe and friendly environment. Each day they experience a wide variety of hands-on activities that are educational and fun. They are encouraged to explore, experiment and make their own discoveries. All of our school programs support Vermont's Framework of Standards & Learning Opportunities.
Hildene offers tours; exhibits, including "The American Ideal; Abraham Lincoln and the Second Inaugural"; and educational programs.
The mission of the New Hampshire Historical Society's is to educate a diverse public about the significance of New Hampshire's past and its relationship to our lives today. In support of this mission, the Society collects, preserves, and interprets materials pertaining to New Hampshire history.
We are the sole organization devoted to:
*maintaining & preserving the Deep River Stone House and grounds;
*promoting general interest in the history of Deep River, Connecticut, and the United States;
*collecting and preserving historical records and artifacts of Deep River and its environs.
Timothy Cheney, farmer, miller and one of America's famous clock makers, built the Cheney Homestead about 1785. A brook to the south of the home afforded water for the grist mill which he operated with his son George.
On October 25, 1798, George Cheney brought his bride, Electa Woodbridge Cheney, to the Homestead to "keep house". To the couple were born eight sons and one daughter. With the exception of George Wells who had died, and Seth and John who became well-known artists, the brothers joined in establishing the Mt. Nebo Silk Company. The firm later incorporated as Cheney Brothers and became world famous as a leader in the silk industry.
The Great Harbor Maritime Museum presents the local maritime history of the Mount Desert Island area.

The Homestead, built in 1787, is the historic home of Vermont's founder Ethan Allen and his bride, Fanny. The Homestead provides visitors a slice of 18th-century life, and an intimate look at Vermont's most colorful—and controversial—founder.

Located on Davis Island in the Sheepscott River, Fort Edgecomb traces its origins to the early 19th century. Interpretive panels unfold the events surrounding the Fort's history when hostilities in Europe dictated construction of forts to protect local residents. The centerpiece of the fort is the Blockhouse that was completed in 1809 and represents the nation's best-preserved blockhouse of this period. It sits on the highest point overlooking the Sheepscott River, and visitors are welcome to discover the views from the horizontal musket ports.

The Society's operates a museum and several historic sites. The Wethersfield Museum features a permanent exhibition on the history of Wethersfield, with over 100 artifacts from the Society's collections, interactive components for visitors, and information on historic sites to visit in the area. Changing exhibition galleries feature the works of local artisans, artists, craft guilds, and temporary society exhibitions throughout the year. The Hurlbut-Dunham House is an elegant brick Georgian early 20th-century home. The Historic Cove Warehouse houses maritime exhibits which explore Wethersfield's role in the busy trade of the 17th and 18th centuries.
