Presque Isle County Historical Society and Museum [Michigan]

Description

The Society operates a museum, housed in the Bradley House—an early-20th-century, seven-bedroom, two-story, single-family bungalow built in 1914. This house was the home of the president of Michigan Limestone and Chemical Company, the largest industry in this community. The museum features three floors of exhibits, including the Bradley dining room, a Victorian music room, a 1900s bedroom, the Bertram sisters' millinery shop, and a county store. Other exhibits include a school room from the early 1900s, farm implements, household goods, woodworking and lumbering tools, and a maritime room.

The museum offers exhibits, tours, and occasional educational and recreational programs.

Tri Cities Historical Museum

Description

The Museum is located in two separate buildings with historic connections to the area. Since 1972 it has occupied the former 1870 Grand Trunk Railroad Depot. On July 1 of 2004 it opened the doors to its second site housed in the 1871 Akeley Building. Exhibits at both sites explore the people, places, and things that have played key roles in the history of Northwest Ottawa County.

The museum offers exhibits, tours, lectures, film screenings, and educational and recreational programs.

Engine House No. 5

Description

Built in 1880 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on the bank of the Grand River, Engine House No. 5 served the community with a horse-drawn steam pumper and a hose cart. The Engine House has since been moved and restored; and today, it houses firefighting equipment and memorabilia.

Moross House/Detroit Garden Center

Description

The Detroit Garden Center is a nonprofit horticultural organization located in Detroit's oldest brick house, historic 1840s-era Moross House. The Center offers tours of the house with its restored parlor and hallway, as well as educational garden-related activities. The Detroit Garden Center is an organization whose primary focus is offering educational gardening related activities.

Macomb County Historical Society and Crocker House Museum [Michigan]

Description

The Crocker House Museum offers a late Victorian home-life experience reminiscent of the world renowned Mineral Bath Era of Mount Clemens in Macomb County, Michigan.

The Macomb County Historical Society and its Crocker House Museum provide educational experiences of Mount Clemens and Macomb County history through the use of artifacts, rotating exhibits, publications, stories, and special educational programs. Our purpose is to collect and preserve our local heritage to instill an appreciation of our community's unique history.
