Dequincy Railroad Museum [LA]

Description

"The DeQuincy Railroad Museum was formerly the Kansas City Depot, when it was built in 1923, the depot was transferred to the city of DeQuincy in 1975. Railroad memorabilia and equipment including a 1913 steam locomotive, a 1929 caboose and a 1947 passenger coach are on display."

Lake Jessie State Historic Site [ND]

Description

In 1839, the Nicollet-Fremont expedition camped here; Isaac I. Stevens and his party stayed here during a survey of a proposed railroad route in the 1850s; and the site was also used by James L. Fisk and his wagon trains bound for the Montana gold fields. There is a marker on the site.

The site is open to the public.

Chadbourn Depot Museum

Description

Housed in a 1910 railroad passenger depot, the Museum devotes its over 5,000 square feet of space to rail history. Also offered are historical displays and information about North Carolina's strawberry industry, which originated in Chadbourn.
