Description

The Hanover Fire Museum presents memorabilia relevant to the history of two local stations—the Hanover Fire Company #1 and Eagle Fire Company #2, as well as to the wider history of firefighting. Artifacts of note include an 1882 Silsby Steamer 550 GRM (a form of pump), a circa 1830 two cylinder piston hand pumper previously used in Baltimore, a circa 1770 Nushem grinder hand engine, and a working 1911 Gamewell Alarm Board.

Victorville Fire Museum [CA]

Description

The Victorville Fire Museum presents a collection of firefighting equipment and memorabilia dating from the 1930s, as well as artifacts and information pertinent to the historical development of the Victorville Fire Department. The museum is housed in one of the city's earliest fire stations, Station No. 1.

Peabody Historical Society and Museums

Description

The Peabody Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Peabody's rich history and heritage. Its headquarters, the General Gideon Foster House, has become a museum, housing most of the Society's many collections. Each room of the house features displays relating to Peabody's historic past. Description

The West Sacramento Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of West Sacramento and East Yolo County, California. The society operates a museum and several interpretive displays located throughout the area. Collection highlights include three fire engines—a 1926 Federal with Dodge Brothers engine, a 1937 Chevy wooden tanker, and a 1954 or '55 International engine.

Description

The New Jersey Fireman's Home was established in 1898 in order to care for aged and disabled firefighters in New Jersey. The home also is host to the New Jersey Fireman's Museum which displays antique firefighting equipment.

Jackson Public Fire Education Center and Fire Museum [MS]

Description

The Public Fire Safety Education Center and Fire Museum provides an entertaining and educational showcase of history of fire fighting through exhibitions of artifacts while providing knowledge, skills, and education necessary to prevent the loss of life and/or property to the ravages of fire. The museum was first opened in 1993 after a substantial bond issue voted on by the citizens of Jackson was passed.

The museum offers visitors a variety of exhibits, such as an 1870 parade uniform, communication equipment, pictures, helmets, and fire apparatus. Hollis Historical Society [NH]

"Our purpose is to stimulate interest in the history of Hollis, New Hampshire, to acquire and preserve memorabilia and historical data significant to the Town of Hollis, to present interesting and informative programs for our members and friends, and to maintain the Ruth E. Wheeler House." The Union Fire Company No. 1 boasts a proud history of over 215 years, and continues to serve the Carlisle, PA area today. The Fire Company maintains a museum located in part of its old station, which was built in the late 19th century.
