Holyoke Heritage State Park is located in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and preserves the area's unique industrial history. By the mid 19th century, Holyoke was home to 50 cotton mills and 4.5 miles of canals. Today, the park is home to a visitor center and children's museum.

The Hammond Castle Museum serves as both a historic home museum and a museum to the life and inventions of John Hays Hammond, Junior (1888-1965), inventor of radio wave remote control and possessor of 400 patents. The structure, completed in 1929, was designed to emulate Medieval castles, as Hammond was an avid collector of Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance artifacts and felt that architecture, above all else, gives one the sense of the existence of history and lives past.

The museum offers exhibits, period rooms, self-guided tours, guided tours, and educational programs. As the structure is historic, it was built prior to the creation of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and, unfortunately, is not handicapped accessible. Reservations with at least two weeks advance notice are required for all school groups. Food is not permitted on the grounds.

Construction of the Paper House began in 1922 as the hobby of Mr. Elis F. Steinman, inventor of the machines used to create paper clips. The house is remarkable in that the walls and a number of its intricate furnishings are made solely of varnished newspaper and glue—an experiment in insulation. Steinman summered in the building between 1924 and 1930.

The papers remain readable through the varnish. The Paper House furnishes an opportunity to access period news in an unconventional manner.

The Worcester Historical Museum shares the history of Worcestor, Massachusetts via a collection of artifacts including the decorative arts, fine arts, documents, and photographs. Worcester was the setting for the invention of the monkey wrench, barbed wire, space suit, and smiley face. The museum also operates the Salisbury Mansion, a house and hardware store built in 1772. The mansion has been restored to its 1830s appearance.

The Ashfield Historical Society Museum presents the history of Ashfield, Massachusetts via a document and artifact collection. Collection highlights include
music books from the Congregationalist Church Singing School of 1799; peddler's trunks from the mid 19th century; the "thunderbolt log splitter," a splitting wedge, powered by powder and locally invented in the 1930s; over 23,000 glass plate negatives of New England circa 1800; and local pottery. The museum also includes a farming equipment exhibit housed in a barn, an 1800s grocery store display, and a circa-1850 recreated shopkeeper's apartment. The museum is located within an 1830s structure, which originally served as a store.

The Norman Rockwell Museum presents the life and work of U.S. artist Norman Rockwell (1894–1978), best known for his observant depictions of American life. The collections includes Rockwell's personal collection of 367 of his works of art—finished pieces and sketches; his materials, personal library, prints, and other contents of his studio; and over 100,000 archival objects. Visitors can visit Rockwell's studio in its original building. This site possess the largest Rockwell collection in the world.

The Pilgrim Hall Museum presents the possessions and history of the Pilgrims. Collection highlights include the only portrait featuring a Pilgrim to be painted from life, the Bible of William Bradford (1590-1657), and the sword of Myles Standish (c. 1584-1656). The museum also presents Wampanoag history and a wide variety of paintings depicting important historical U.S. events.

The Bourne Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Bourne, Massachusetts. To this end, the society operates the Aptucxet Trading Post Museum. Originally built in 1627, the trading post was the site of the first private commercial enterprise to use wampum. Today it sits on a complex with the circa 1893 Gray Gables Railroad Station, built for U.S. President Grover Cleveland (in office 1893-1896); a replica salt works; a historic windmill; and an herb garden. The Jonathon Bourne Historical Center, located in an 1897 library, also offers local history exhibits.

The society offers exhibits, archival access, and an annual maritime lecture series.

The New England Fire and History Museum presents the history of firefighting on both regional and national levels. Collections include the world's last remaining 1929 Mercedes Benz firetruck, antique firefighting equipment, and a diorama of the Great Chicago Fire. The complex also boasts a blacksmith shop, herb and contemplation gardens, and a restored apothecary.
