The Kent Plantation House, completed in 1800, presents a typical Creole working plantation home of the colonial period. More broadly, the site is used to discuss Central Louisianan history between 1795 and 1855. The site includes the main residence, milk house, open hearth kitchen, slave cabin, carriage house, barn, blacksmith shop, gardens, and a sugar mill.

The house offers period rooms, exhibits, guided tours, group tours, customizable student tours, demonstrations, summer camps, and a traveling trunk. Reservations are required for group tours and open hearth cooking. The website offers an educational packet on the Yellow Fever.

Writer Sarah Orne Jewett spent much of her life in this stately Georgian residence, owned by her family since 1819. The view from her desk in the second-floor hall surveys the town's major intersection and provided her with material for her books, such as The Country of the Pointed Firs, which describe the character of the Maine countryside and seacoast with accuracy and affection. In decorating the house for their own use, Miss Jewett and her sister expressed both a pride in their family's past and their own independent, sophisticated tastes. The result is an eclectic blend of 18th-century architecture, antiques, and old wallpapers with furnishings showing the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement.

The Fort Clatsop National Memorial preserves the 1805 through 1806 winter encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. During their 106 day stay, it rained all but 12 days. The men spent the time hunting, taking care of their gear, and trading with and learning the cultures of the Clatsop and Chinook. The Lewis and Clark National Historical Park's education center is located at the Fort Clatsop National Memorial.

The memorial offers an introductory film, exhibits, guided and self-guided educational programs for students, traveling trunks, videos for loan, Junior Ranger activities, and costumed programs. The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site is a historic cotton plantation. The main plantation residence was built in 1847, and many of the furnishings within are those made by the original owner, John Fitz Jarrell. Jarrell's descendants later transitioned the plantation's industry to wood products.

The Eagle Island State Historic Site preserves the summer home of Admiral Robert Peary (1856-1920), who after his 1909 expedition, claimed to be the first man to reach the geographic North Pole. The grounds contain gardens originally tended by Peary's wife, Josephine.

The Wicomico Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Wicomico County, Maryland. To this end, the society operates several museums. The Heritage Center is a museum of local history is located within a reproduction 18th-century tobacco barn. Pemberton Hall depicts 1741 daily life. The 1872 Rockawalkin School presents education history. The 1938 Nutters Election House holds Presidential, campaign, and political artifacts.

The George Ranch Historical Park presents living history interpretation of the history of Fort Bend County, Texas and neighboring areas. The site consists of a 23,000-acre working ranch, which interprets the periods between 1824 and circa 1940. Sites include the 1830s Jones Stock Farm, 1860s Ryon Prairie Home, a sharecropper's farm, chuck wagon camp, blacksmith shop, the 1890s Davis Victorian Mansion, a family cemetery in use between the 1820s and 1916, and the 1930s George Ranch House.

The park offers period rooms; hands-on activities; guided group tours; self-guided tours; 11 educational program options for students, including two role-playing programs; a homeschool day program; demonstrations; home tours; living history interpreters; period lunches; a tram; and a cafe. Groups desiring guided tours must include at least 15 individuals. Meal options are available for groups.

The Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Yates County, New York. To this end, the society operates two museums, the Oliver House Museum and the L. Caroline Underwood Museum. The Oliver House Museum, a historic house museum, is listed separately in this database. The L. Caroline Underwood Museum presents exhibits on artifacts and topics of local historical interest, as well as on the life of Lucy Underwood herself. The collections include more than 1,500 items. This museum also houses the society library.

The National Portrait Gallery is a fascinating museum that showcases portraits of America's most famous and influential figures. Using a variety of mediums and styles, famous artists have created likenesses of presidents, artists, writers, politicians, etc. and historians place their importance in context.

Students visiting the museum can take a docent-led interactive tour of the museum based on educational standards (60-90 min.). Interactive educational programs are offered for grades K-12 on a variety of topics. Teacher resources can be downloaded from the website. Teacher workshops are also available year-round.
