The Society's museum is housed in the 1773 home of Dr. William Henry Stoy, a local minister and prominent Revolutionary War doctor. Throughout the museum, visitors will find examples of Pennsylvania German craftsmanship in such items as furniture, quilting and weaving, fraktur, and redware. Exhibits include recreations of several early shops and offices and explorations of community industries such as blacksmithing, farming and milling, carpentry, weaving, printing, shoemaking, and mining.

The Titan Missile Museum is the only publicly accessible Titan II missile site in the nation. Visitors can tour the underground missile site and see the 3-ton blast doors, the 8-foot-thick silo walls, and an actual Titan II missile in the launch duct. They can also visit the launch control center and experience a simulated launch.

Since 1830, the Society has connected people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and disseminating the state's history. A nonprofit membership organization, the IHS also publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; provides youth, adult, and family programming; provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups; and maintains the nation's premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest. The society also maintains the Indiana History Center, where events and programs are held and exhibits housed.

The Society maintains the Los Alamos Historic Museum and Bookshop as well as the Los Alamos Historical Archives. The Los Alamos Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and interpreting the history of Los Alamos. Housed in the Guest Cottage of the Los Alamos Ranch School—a favorite place of Gen. Leslie Groves during the Manhattan Project—the museum features exhibits on local geology, anthropology, the 1917 elite Ranch School, and the Manhattan Project, as well as changing exhibits.

At the Museum, visitors can discover the past through a wide variety of permanent and changing exhibits, educational programs, and special events. They can step into the turn of the 20th century with a tour of the 1895 Hawkins House; enjoy hands-on fun in the Attic, a"please touch" exhibit that is a favorite with families; and explore a downtown of yesteryear on First Street, an exhibit that brings to life three early Rogers businesses.

The Society's mission is to promote interest in and enjoyment of the history of Montgomery County, Tennessee; to ascertain, preserve and promote local history; to identify historic sites and structures and promote their preservation; and to hold periodic meetings of a stimulating nature in keeping with the interests of the society. At the Museum, visitors can experience hands-on history displays on naval aviation and see more than 150 restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aviation. The Roundhouse Museum contains memorabilia and items historically significant to Egg Harbor City. Permanent displays include Liberty Glass, C.P. Leek & Sons boats, clothing and wine industries, and Dr. Smith's Health Spa. Rotating displays have included local connections to the Civil War, County Fairs, railroads, fire and police departments, and the U.S. Postal Service. The museum also holds city census records, city tax records dating to 1862, and the beginnings of local genealogies available for study.

The Museum collects and preserve artifacts, photographs, and documents relevant to Orange County and shares the heritage of Hillsborough and Orange County with the public. Permanent exhibits explore the development and history of Hillsborough in a chronological fashion, beginning with early Native American settlements, progressing through the 1950s. Special exhibits explore a variety of topics relevant to Orange County history.
