Warrenville Historical Society

Description

The Warrenville Historical Society was organized in 1980. Its purpose is to bring together those interested in Warrenville's History, and to collect, preserve and display objects and documents that illustrate that history. The Society established the Warrenville Historical Museum in 1983. Space was provided for the Museum in the Greek Revival Style Albright Building through the generosity of the City of Warrenville, interest groups, businesses and individuals.

Del Norte County Historical Society, Museum, and Battery Point Lighthouse

Description

The mission of the Society is to discover, collect, preserve and present the documents, artifacts, structures and properties of Del Norte County. The Society currently operates the museums on 5th and H Streets and in the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City.

The Main Museum has a wealth of interesting displays. One room is devoted to artifacts of the local Tolowa and Yurok Native Americans. It includes one of the finest Native American basket collections in Northern California. Musical instruments, old radio, phonographic and photographic equipment, excellent needlework, early logging and mining tools and equipment, and many fashions and furniture from yesteryear are just some of the objects and subjects represented and on display in the Main Museum.

The Bolen Annex houses the magnificent First Order Fresnel Lens from the Saint George Reef Lighthouse. Photo carousels throughout the museum as well as on the walls of various rooms chronicle the historical visual representations of the people and events of Del Norte County.

Vinton Historical Society

Description

The society has been responsible for the operation of the Vinton Museum since the Town acquired the Upson home in 1988. Some of the responsibilities of the society include the preservation of items of historical relevance, maintaining the interior of the museum for the display of artifacts, and providing educational opportunities for the community.

The museum is home to thousands of items that relate to the history of Vinton and the surrounding communities within the Roanoke Valley. Some of the items date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Indian arrowheads, porcelain dolls, china, hand-made dough bowls, WWII memorabilia, a variety of period clothing, and a host of items from Vinton schools. We also have a vast collection of photographs taken in and around Vinton that capture the essence of the time period in which they were taken.

Macomb County Historical Society and Crocker House Museum [Michigan]

Description

The Crocker House Museum offers a late Victorian home-life experience reminiscent of the world renowned Mineral Bath Era of Mount Clemens in Macomb County, Michigan.

The Macomb County Historical Society and its Crocker House Museum provide educational experiences of Mount Clemens and Macomb County history through the use of artifacts, rotating exhibits, publications, stories, and special educational programs. Our purpose is to collect and preserve our local heritage to instill an appreciation of our community's unique history.

New Jersey State Museum

Description

From fossils to fine art, from Native American tools to the finest silver, from quilts to comets, from prehistory to the future, the New Jersey State Museum is four museums in one and offers a galaxy of experiences for every member of the family. Treasures, collected since the early 1800s, are housed in a modern main building overlooking the Delaware River in Trenton and are enhanced by exciting programs offered in an adjoining 150-seat planetarium and an adjacent 400-seat auditorium.

The museum offers exhibits, multimedia presentations, educational programs, lectures, and educational and recreational events.

San Fernando Valley Historical Society [CA]

Description

The Andres Pico Adobe is one of the oldest residences in the City of Los Angeles. It represents a bygone era and the rich historical past of the San Fernando Valley. Inside are museum displays of native American beads, Mission and Spanish-Mexican era artifacts, costumes and clothing that span more than a century, and furniture from the Victorian era, when the Adobe was home to members of the Pico family.

Cape River Heritage Museum [MO]

Description

According to the Cape River Heritage Museum website, this museum displays river-related artifacts and historical items. The 'Southeast Missouri Story' is portrayed along with an interpretive story of the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau.

The museum offers exhibits, and is open May 19th through September sixth.
