The Museum at the Carnegie offers a glimpse of life from Clallam County's past. The exhibit "Strong People: Faces of Clallam County" introduces visitors to people who helped build the community. Visitors will learn about early settlers in "Charting the Last Frontier"; hear three distinct tribal languages in "Our Ancestral Heritage"; explore the arts in "Body, Mind, and Spirit"; examine the issues behind the creation of Olympic National Park in "This Land is Your Land"; learn about timber and agriculture in "Home Grown"; find out about the towns that cover our county from east to west in "Creating Communities"; and discover our maritime history in "Our Strategic Coastline."

The society offers research library access, lectures, and occasional recreational and educational events; the museum offers exhibits.

The Dutch Colonial Revival Pearce-McAllister Cottage, built in 1899, reflected the original owners' desires to have a cottage similar to those seen in the older districts of the eastern United States. The second owners, the McAllisters, remodeled the interior in the 1920s decor seen in the home. Today, the Pearce-McAllister Cottage is home to the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys, which manages the site, and has exhibits throughout the house. The collection encompasses more than 10,000 items dating from 1680 through today.

The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, one of four museums in the Museum of New Mexico system, is a premier repository of Native art and material culture. It tells the stories of the people of the Southwest from prehistory through the present day. The museum serves the public through changing exhibitions, public lectures, field trips, artist residencies, and other educational programs.

The museum offers a variety of events and exhibits to the public, several thematic tours designed for schoolchildren, tours for adults and other museum guests, and research materials and collections for researchers. Visitors to this local history museum can view area history exhibits and tour the circa 1896 courthouse. The museum also houses a small research library, containing photographs of early Denton and a microfilm collection of Denton area newspapers.

The Center works to revitalize the historic neighborhoods of New Orleans, and now aids in the reconstruction of New Orleans in a historically conscious way.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum was founded in 1982, and was moved into its modern location along the historic Oswego piers in 1998. Currently, the museum is a fully functioning maritime museum, and holds a variety of maritime artifacts vessels. The undisputed highlight of the collection is the National Historic Landmark veteran of the WWII Normandy Invasion, the U.S. Army LT-5 Tugboat. The tugboat has been carefully restored and is currently the only remaining fully operational vessel of its kind. The museum is also working with the City of Oswego to preserve and protect the historic Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse.

The Society maintains two historical museums. The Majors-Parchman House Museum, a restored 1883 Victorian cottage, retains its original outbuildings and displays an extensive artwork collection. The Franklin County Historical Museum, located in Mount Vernon's Old City Hall, presents exhibits on area history with additional natural history exhibits.

Native Americans feasted here, colonists built a fort, and the Smart Set of the 1920s came for vacations. A site of human occupation for over 5,000 years, Fort George Island was named for a 1736 fort built to defend the southern flank of Georgia when it was a colony. A key attraction is the recently restored Ribault Club. Once an exclusive resort, it is now a visitor center.

The Society operates out of the George W. and Martha Bonner Robinson home, built on Elm Street in Tionesta in 1872. Housed in its several levels are displays of printing press, cobbler, blacksmith, butcher, and general farming and domestic tools. War relics and Indian arrowheads, historical paintings, and quilts from the County are also on display. A library of historical books, photographs, pamphlets, and documents is also housed here.

exhibits, & public programs relating to Jefferson County's history, as
well as serving as the primary Visitor Center for the 15-county Lumber
Heritage Region. We are open Wednesday through Saturday from 12 pm to
