The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute interprets the struggle of African Americans in Birmingham, AL, to secure their civil rights as citizens of the U.S. and members of the community. It also examines human rights issues across the globe.

Peerless Rockville seeks to preserve and share the history of Rockville, MD.

The organization offers lectures, guided walking tours, customizable guided walking tours, self-guided walking tours, research library access, and research assistance. Guided tour topics include a historical overview of Rockville, the Civil War, 19th-century landmarks, a family scavenger hunt, African American history, the Underground Railroad, public architecture, F. Scott Fitzgerald, downtown, the Rockville cemetery, the 1891 courthouse, and early settlement. Appointments are recommended for research library use.

The California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento is a tribute to the role of the "iron horse" in connecting California to the rest of the nation. The museum features 21 restored locomotives and cars, some dating back to 1862. There is a full-scale diorama of an 1860s construction site high in the Sierra Nevada as well as a bridge elevated 24 feet above the museum floor.

The museum offers exhibits, train rides, a short film, tours, research library access, educational programs, and recreational and educational events.

The Trolley Museum of New York presents the history of rail transportation and the effect thereof on the Hudson River Valley. Collections include 21 subway, rapid transit, and trolley cars from throughout the United States and Europe. These cars date from between 1897 and 1952. The museum is located on the foundations of the Ulster and Delaware Railroad Yard's engine house.

The museum offers exhibits, a film, the opportunity to view restoration work in progress, a one and a half-mile trolley ride, and picnic sites along the trolley route.

The South Carolina State House has been the site of the South Carolina state legislature since 1907. Construction of the structure itself began in 1857 but was delayed by both architect fraud and the Civil War. Visitors are welcome both on days when the legislative body is in session and when it is not. Each offers a different site experience.

The site offers a 15-minute introductory film and guided tours. Reservations are recommended for group visits.

The Strawberry Banke Museum is a living history museum of one of New Hampshire’s oldest neighborhoods and its history that dates back to the 1600's. The outdoor museum contains 42 historic buildings, the earliest build in 1695, and many contain live demonstrations of craftsmanship, cooking, and other forms of daily life at work.

School groups can tour the neighborhood on their own and partake in a Time Travel Workshop that includes hands-on activities lasting about 90 minutes on a specific, curriculum-based topic. Other programs on architecture, archeology, cooking, Early America, Trade and Maritime history, and the Industrial revolution meet New Hampshire education standards for many grade levels. The site also offers programs for home-schoolers and holiday programs.

The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site is a historic cotton plantation. The main plantation residence was built in 1847, and many of the furnishings within are those made by the original owner, John Fitz Jarrell. Jarrell's descendants later transitioned the plantation's industry to wood products.

The site offers period rooms, tours, and summer camps.

The Levine Museum of the New South presents the history and culture of the New South, the Southern United States after 1865. At the beginning of this period, southerners were forced to determine new ways of life, as the institution of slavery, so long a major component of the economy, had been abolished. The museum's permanent exhibit uses the Charlotte area to describe the development of the South after the end of the Civil War. The interactive exhibit includes six experiential environments, as well as oral histories, film, music, and more than 1,000 artifacts.

The museum offers interactive exhibits, self-guided tours, guided exhibit tours, guided walking tours, curriculum-based programs for students, traveling trunks, outreach programs, discussions, and lectures. Reservations are required for all group tours or programs, and must be made at least two weeks in advance.

The Levittown Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Levittown, NY. To this end, the society operates the Levittown History Museum. Artifacts on exhibit include furnishings and appliances dating to the late 1940s. Levittown was established in 1947 as a low-cost community with mass-produced housing available to veterans. It subsequently served as the model for countless post-World War II suburban neighborhoods.

The museum offers period rooms and guided tours. Guided tours are available by appointment only.

The Museum provides visitors with a journey through the history of flight. Visitors may stand beneath a model of the Montgolfier brothers' hot air balloon of 1783—the first manned vehicle in recorded history to lift man above the Earth. They can view specimens of aircraft from World War I, or marvel at the antics of the barnstormers of the 1920s. Mint condition aircraft help visitors appreciate the increasingly complex technology represented in the classic military aircraft of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and exhibits on space flight project aeronautics into the future.
