The Strawberry Banke Museum is a living history museum of one of New Hampshire’s oldest neighborhoods and its history that dates back to the 1600's. The outdoor museum contains 42 historic buildings, the earliest build in 1695, and many contain live demonstrations of craftsmanship, cooking, and other forms of daily life at work.

School groups can tour the neighborhood on their own and partake in a Time Travel Workshop that includes hands-on activities lasting about 90 minutes on a specific, curriculum-based topic. Other programs on architecture, archeology, cooking, Early America, Trade and Maritime history, and the Industrial revolution meet New Hampshire education standards for many grade levels. The site also offers programs for home-schoolers and holiday programs.

Located on the Roanoke River, the town of Halifax developed into a commercial and political center at the time of the American Revolution. North Carolina's Fourth Provincial Congress met in Halifax in the spring of 1776. On April 12 that body unanimously adopted a document later called the "Halifax Resolves," which was the first official action by an entire colony recommending independence from England. A guided walking tour takes visitors into several authentically restored and furnished buildings. These include the 1760 home of a merchant, the house and law office of a 19th-century attorney, and the 1808 home of a wealthy landowner. The 1833 clerk's office, a jail, Eagle Tavern, and a unique archaeological exhibit are also featured on the tour.

The site offers a short film, exhibits, tours, and occasional recreational and educational events.

The town's old Gold Rush-era business district has been preserved, with shops, restaurants, and two hotels. Visitors have the chance to time-travel to the 1850s, imagining life when gold miners rubbed shoulders with businessmen and the other residents in Columbia. Visitors can experience a bygone era watching proprietors in period clothing conduct business in the style of yesterday. There are opportunities to ride a 100 year-old stagecoach, pan for gold, or tour an active gold mine.

The Chicago History Museum presents Chicago, IL, and select national history. Permanent exhibits include Chicago economy, disasters, community life, innovations, leisure, recreation, and history dioramas. Collections consist of more than 22,000,000 prints, photographs, architectural artifacts, archival documents, published materials, paintings, sculptures, oral histories, films, costumes, decorative arts, and industrial artifacts.

The museum offers traditional and interactive exhibits, media presentations, a sensory exhibit for children and families, hands-on activity stations, guided tours, self-guided tours, history tours by boat, step-on guides, 45-minute audio tours, Saturday walking tours, film screenings, teacher workshops, and research library access. Audio tours are available in English and Spanish. The website offers educational games, an artifact spotlight, virtual exhibits, a teacher's guide, unit plans, pre- and post-visit activities, lesson plans, and a curriculum.

The Levine Museum of the New South presents the history and culture of the New South, the Southern United States after 1865. At the beginning of this period, southerners were forced to determine new ways of life, as the institution of slavery, so long a major component of the economy, had been abolished. The museum's permanent exhibit uses the Charlotte area to describe the development of the South after the end of the Civil War. The interactive exhibit includes six experiential environments, as well as oral histories, film, music, and more than 1,000 artifacts.

The museum offers interactive exhibits, self-guided tours, guided exhibit tours, guided walking tours, curriculum-based programs for students, traveling trunks, outreach programs, discussions, and lectures. Reservations are required for all group tours or programs, and must be made at least two weeks in advance.

The Levittown Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Levittown, NY. To this end, the society operates the Levittown History Museum. Artifacts on exhibit include furnishings and appliances dating to the late 1940s. Levittown was established in 1947 as a low-cost community with mass-produced housing available to veterans. It subsequently served as the model for countless post-World War II suburban neighborhoods.

The museum offers period rooms and guided tours. Guided tours are available by appointment only.

The Museum of History & Industry, located in Seattle, WA, is Washington's largest private heritage organization. The museum itself focuses on the history of the Puget Sound and greater Pacific Northwest. The museum is also home to the Seattle Historical Society's historical collections and archives, including an oral history collection and audio/video collection.

The Brooklyn Historical Society is dedicated to chronicling the history of Brooklyn, from its origins over 200 years ago to its modern day state as a borough of New York City. The society is located in downtown Brooklyn in a building that was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 for its fabulous Queen-Anne style architecture. In addition to a local history museum, the society also is home to an extensive collection of historical artifacts and documents.

The society offers guided tours, school outreach programs, teacher development, exhibits, research resources, and field trip programs. The website offers visitor information, a calendar of events, library access, and historical information regarding Brooklyn.

Visitors to this park can step into the past on the "Monterey Walking Path of History" and view the site where Spanish explorers first landed in Monterey in 1602; see one of the nation's last remaining whalebone sidewalks; and walk the same streets that author Robert Louis Stevenson walked in 1879 as they explore this two-mile path and discover some of California's most historic homes, buildings, and gardens along the way. Monterey served as California's capital under Spanish, Mexican, and U.S. military rule. The U.S. flag was first officially raised in California here on July 7, 1846, bringing 600,000 square miles of land to the United States. Ten buildings, including the Custom House, the oldest government building in California, and several residences (now house museums with guided tours), are all part of the Path of History.

The Bronx County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of the Bronx, New York City. To this end, the society operates a research library, the county archives, the Poe Cottage, and a local history museum within the 1758 Valentine-Varian House. The 1812 Poe Cottage was Edgar Allan Poe's final home. He lived on site between 1846 and 1849. "Annabel Lee" was written during this time. Poe (1809-1849) is credited with creating the detective fiction genre, as well as being an early writer of American short stories. He is classified as a Romantic author; and his poetry, short stories, and novels lean toward the macabre. Famous works include "The Raven," "The Black Cat," "The Masque of the Red Death," "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," "The Tell-Tale Heart," and "Annabel Lee."

The society offers student tours and interactive activities in both historic homes, presentations for students, outreach programs for students, and neighborhood walking tours for students. The Poe Cottage offers period rooms, an introductory video, and guided tours. The Museum of Bronx History offers rotating exhibits. Both the archives and research library are open to the public by appointment. Payment of a fee is required for research assistance.
