The Bergen County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Bergen County, New Jersey. To this end, the society operates a museum within the Campbell-Christie House. The museum collection is particularly strong in local Dutch artifacts and archival materials. Highlights include a dugout canoe, one of two known 1767 Bergen Settles, the only known example of Bergen Dutch Delftware, and Native American artifacts. A research library is available at Felican College.

The society offers exhibits, monthly lectures, and research library access. The library is only partially wheelchair accessible.

The Three Village Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Old Field, Poquott, the Setaukets, and Stony Brook, New York. To this end, the society operates exhibits of local history located within the circa 1800 Bayles-Swezey House.

The society offers exhibits, archival access, research assistance, 75-minute historic walking tours, guided field trips to Setauket, educational programs on local and Long Island history, and educational outreach programs. Appointments are required for archival access. Reservations are required for educational programs, and these programs are only available to elementary and junior high students in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Outreach programs are only available to elementary and junior high students in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The New York City Police Museum presents the cultural history, traditions, and policies of the New York City Police Department—the single largest police force in the world. Artifacts date back to early Dutch settlement. The site includes information relevant to September 11, 2001, as well as a memorial hall honoring officers who fell in the line of duty. Exhibit topics include police dress, transportation, communication equipment, portraits, weaponry, 9/11, and jails.

The site offers exhibits, films, and a child safety program designed for parents and guardians. Reservations are required for school groups.

The Senator John Heinz History Center is the largest history museum in the state of Pennsylvania, and covers 250 years of Pittsburgh's history. The center includes the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, which presents Pittsburgh's sports history. Seventy exhibits in the sports museum are interactive, and the site also makes extensive use of audio and visual presentations. The research center, which offers sources relevant to Western Pennsylvania history, holds more than 400,000 publications and 3,500 archival collections. A substantial amount of archival documents relate to Jewish life. The center also claims strong African American and Italian American holdings. The center is affiliated with the Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life, which includes the oldest known site of human habitation within the entirety of North America. This museum is listed separately within the National History Education Clearinghouse database.

The center offers interactive and traditional exhibits, audiovisual presentations, a research center, research assistance, Scout programs, and a deli. Offerings specifically for schools include guided tours, self-guided tours, hands-on activities, classes, and educational programs. Students, teachers, and school staff members are admitted to the research center free of charge with a valid school ID. Wheelchairs are available for use on site. A sign language interpreter is available with advance notice. The website offers videos and audio files.

The Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park consists of nine formal gardens, a greenhouse, an aviary, and an 1887 Queen Anne mansion.

The park offers free guided walking tours and a children's scavenger hunt trail.

The Cumberland County Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Cumberland County, NJ. To this end, the society operates the Gibbon House Museum, John DuBois Maritime Museum, Reba and Warren Lummis Genealogical and Historical Research Library, and Cumberland County Prehistorical Museum. The John DuBois Maritime Museum presents Southern Jersey 19th- and 20th-century maritime history. Collections include caulking tools, rigging apparatus, shipwrights' tools, and builders' models. The Cumberland County Prehistorical Museum presents local ancient history, as well as more recent Native American history. Collections include Native American artifacts and fossils. Native American groups discussed include the Clovis, Lenape, Little Siconese, Sewapose, and Alloway.

The society offers exhibits, group tours, fourth and fifth grade educational programs, student tours, research library access, research assistance, hearthside cooking classes, and monthly continuing education classes. The John DuBois Maritime Museum is open by appointment only. A fee is charged for research assistance. At least two weeks notice is required for all school visits. The website offers pre- and post-visit activity suggestions.

The Lorenzo State Historic Site consists of Lorenzo, the 1807 neoclassical residence of five generations of the the Lincklaen or Ledyard family. The residence was built for John Lincklaen who founded the village of Cazenovia, New York; and worked for the Holland Land Company. The Rippleton Schoolhouse is available for educational programming.

The site offers audio-visual programs, costumed interpreters, gardens, guided tours, exhibits, educational services, interpretive signs, archival access, and a picnic area.

Fallsington, founded in the 18th century, consists of 18th- through 20th-century residential, commercial, and community buildings. The site remains largely unaltered by area development, and served as an active Quaker community until the 1950s. Interpretation focuses on local and architectural history, as well as material culture. The site includes more than 90 historic structures, not all of which are open to the public.

Historic Fallsington offers guided walking tours of the square and three buildings, self-guided tours, period rooms, programs for students, a Scout summer camp, and research assistance. Building access is not available during self-guided tours. Student programs year-round and guided tours between mid October and mid May are available by appointment only. A fee is charged for requested research.

The 696-acre Pine Grove Furnace State Park presents the history of the area charcoal iron furnace community, in use for more than 130 years.

The park offers exhibits, educational programs for students, four miles of trails, outdoor activities, two historic overnight structures, and picnic sites. During the summer, the site also offers hikes, educational programs, activities, and demonstrations. Please note that the area is open to hunters during season. The site also asks that firewood not be brought in from outside the park to prevent the spread of invasive species.

Waterloo Village takes the visitor through time from a 400-year old Lenape (Delaware) Indian village to a bustling port along the once prosperous Morris Canal. This early 19th-century restored village contains a working mill complex with gristmills and sawmills, a general store, blacksmith shop, and several historic houses.

The site offers exhibits, tours, and occasional recreational and educational events.
