The Waveland State Historic Site preserves a home from one of Kentucky's earliest settlements, the 1779 Bryan's Station. The Bryan family accompanied famed trailblazer Daniel Boone through the Cumberland Gap; and the 1847 Greek Revival home on site was built by a Bryan who was also Boone's grandnephew. The site contains the residence, fields of grain and hemp, racing thoroughbreds, slave quarters, a smokehouse, an icehouse, and flower and herb gardens. The site's interpretation focuses on 19th-century plantation life and the Bryan family.

The site offers period rooms, guided home and outbuilding tours, group tours, student tours, student educational programs, gardens, a nature trail, a playground, and picnic tables. Reservations are required for group tours. Between January and March, the site is open by appointment only. Educational programs focus on Kentucky plantation life between 1840 and 1860.

The Sevier County Historical Society Museum consists of a replica blacksmith shop, jail, and 1897 bank, as well as a 1940s residence furnished in period style.

The Scarsdale Historical Society seeks to preserve and share the history of Scarsdale and the Central- and Mid-Westchester area, NY. The society operates two historic properties, the circa 1734 Cudner-Hyatt House and an 1828 Quaker meeting house. Topics addressed include daily life in the late 19th-century, the Civil War, and the Lenape people.

The society offers exhibits; two-hour curriculum-based educational programs with a lesson, tour of the Cudner-Hyatt House, activities, and a take-home project; one-hour educational programs; group tours; Scout activities; three themed traveling trunks with artifact replicas; and outreach presentations for schools. The exhibits and Cudner-Hyatt House are partially wheelchair accessible.

The Heyward House is a circa 1840 antebellum house museum which also serves as the welcome center for Bluffton, South Carolina. The site includes the original slave cabin and a portion of the summer kitchen; and is located within Bluffton's historic district.

The house offers period rooms, 30-minute guided home and grounds tours, two-hour guided area walking tours, and self-guided area walking tours. Reservations are required for guided walking tours and for all groups of 10 or more.

The Historic Crail Ranch preserves the story of Augustus Franklin Crail and his family. Living in the cabin in the early 1900s, the Crails kept pigs, sheep, and cattle; grew hay; and ran a lumber mill. Other structures on site included barns, a forge, a hay barn, a piggery, and a spring house. Architecturally, the ranch contains the oldest original building in Big Sky, Montana; and is an example of a historic log structure.

The ranch offers a living history experience.

The oldest museum in the United States devoted to architecture and design, the Octagon Museum enables the American Architectural Foundation to increase public awareness of the power of architecture and its influence on the quality of life. The building was designed by Dr. William Thornton for Colonel John Tayloe III, and was constructed between 1799 and 1801, and is considered one of the best examples of Federal period architecture in the country. During the most recent restoration, the exterior and interior were restored to reflect the house during the Tayloes' occupancy between 1817 and 1828.

The 1857 Gallier House was designed by architect James Gallier, Jr. (born 1829) as his personal residence. The interior has been furnished to the period style immediately following the Civil War through 1880, and reflects the taste and lifestyle of wealthy urban designers of the day. The site also includes gardens, a carriage house, and restored slave quarters.

The house offers period rooms, one-hour guided tours, guided group tours, demonstrations for students, educational programs for students, history and archaeology summer camps, teacher workshops, and Scout workshops. Group tours are available by reservation on days when the museum is otherwise closed to the public. The website offers a virtual tour and lesson plans.

The Centre Hill Museum is a historic house museum. The 1823 residence is used to discuss its own history, including Presidential visits and its role in the Civil War. The interior houses decorative arts dating from 1700 through the 1900s. Collection highlights include a circa 1900 aviary of stuffed birds. The structure displays Greek Revival, Federal, and Colonial Revival elements.

The museum offers exhibits.

Built in 1859 for George Hearst, a mining superintendent during the California gold rush, the house served as a mining office. The house was later bought by John Mackay, an Irish-American whose mining company found the largest silver mines in North America in the early 1870's.

Tours of the house are offered, but no specific educational programs are available for field trips.

The Octagon Museum, the oldest U.S. museum of art and design, permits the American Architectural Foundation to share an understanding of and interest in architecture with the general public. The Federal period museum structure was built between 1799 and 1801. However, today, the interior and exterior reflect the period between 1817 and 1828. Collections include more than 100,000 original architectural drawings, 760 decorative arts artifacts, and over 12,000 archaeological items and architectural fragments found during restoration.
