The Joseph Landers Memorial Restoration House dates back to 1854 when Samuel Sannon built the English-style wing house on eight acres of land in Malverne. The Malverne Historical Society restored the home, and currently uses it as both a historic house and local history museum.

The Lighthouse, dedicated in 1912, serves a dual purpose as both a lighthouse and a memorial to the French explorer, Samuel de Champlain.

The lighthouse is open to tours and visitors throughout the summer months. Visitors can explore the interior of the lighthouse and can take in the view of Lake Champlain from the top. Louis Armstrong House and Archives [NY]

Description

In 1943, Louis Armstrong and his wife, Lucille, settled in a modest house in Corona, Queens, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Today, the furnishings and the house are preserved very much as they were during the Armstrongs’ lifetime.

Today, visitors are offered guided 40-minute tours, as well as occasional special events. Group tours (8 or more) must be scheduled in advance. The museum also holds several collections of artifacts that are available to researchers by appointment. The Historic River Towns of Westchester is a consortium of waterfront towns along New York's Hudson River. The organization works to promote and aid in historic and preservation efforts in the river front communities along the river.

Fort Ticonderoga National Historic Landmark [NY]

Description

Fort Ticonderoga is located in upstate New York, and is famous for its pivotal roles in the French and Indian War and, more importantly, the Revolutionary War. However, the fort is much more than a restored military fortress. A typical visit to the fort will include rich and varied offerings including costumed interpreters, 30-minute guided tours, a world class museum, daily musket demonstrations, and self-guided tours of the Fort.

Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center [NY]

The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center was first opened in 1966 in order to preserve and showcase the history of Waterford, New York, which is located just north of Albany. The museum organization was originally focused on the preservation of the Hugh White Homestead, which today has been moved from its original location and serves as the residence for the museum.

The museum offers a variety of exhibits focusing on the history of Waterford, museum tours, a field trip to the Hill-Stead Museum of Farmington, Connecticut, and a series of traveling lectures.
