The Liberty Museum & Arts Center Building was first constructed as a hotel in 1894. The Poellman House, as the hotel was known, contained 30 rooms with baths, steam heat, all "sanitary arrangements" and a first class Café and Bowling Alley. The hotel closed in 1936. The Liberty Museum has a dual mission of presenting creative arts as well as programs of local and regional history. Themes which have been previously covered include Catskills resorts, Main Street, and the history of Route 17.

The Wells Fargo History Musuem presents the role of Wells, Fargo & Co., a joint stock banking and express business company founded in 1852, in the commercial history of Sacramento, California. Artifacts of note include an original Concord Coach, historical panoramic paintings, original maps and views of Sacramento, a Wooten patent desk, and The Livingston Sacramento Postal History Collection.

The Wayne County Historical Society seeks to heighten awareness of and to preserve the history of Wayne County, New York. The society operates the Museum of Wayne County History, which currently has over 8,000 items in its collection, spanning a wide range of time.

The society offers a quarterly newsletter specifically written for educators, a historic map club, a series of pen-pal letters written by a fictional child from the past, educational kits for rental, in-classroom presentations by costumed docents, and guided tours.

The Jerome Historical society seeks to preserve and share the history of Jerome, Arizona, once known as the “Wickedest Town in The West.” To this end, the society operates a museum and an archival collection. The museum presents local history through displays covering mining history; gambling; the Chinese, Slavs, Italians, Russians, Mexicans, and Irish in Jerome; and other topics. Collection highlights include mining equipment and a Colt pistol used by Marshal Johnny Hudgens.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum presents the presidency and impact of John F. Kennedy (1917-1963), 35th President of the United States. Museum exhibits make extensive use of video and sound recordings of Kennedy himself. Still other exhibits focus on Jacqueline Kennedy, the Oval Office, White House restoration, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, and the 1960s Civil Rights movement. Events during Kennedy's administration, cut short by his 1963 assassination, include the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bay of Pigs Invasion, and the Space Race.

The museum offers an introductory film, three theaters, period settings, 25 multimedia exhibits, guided tours and programs for school groups, research library access for students and scholars, and professional development conferences and workshops for educators. Wheelchairs are available for visitors; a sign language interpreter can be provided with advance notice; and all films are captioned. The Mariner's Museum presents information and artifacts relevant to the field of maritime history. Highlights include more than 150 small vessels from over 36 countries; August F. Crabtree's miniature ships; displays on shipbuilding, cartographic, and navigational advancements between 1400 and 1700; the largest international maritime library in the western hemisphere; and the USS Monitor Center. The center includes a full-scale replica of the Monitor, the first U.S. Navy ironclad warship, used in the Civil War. The museum also owns and maintains a 550-acre park.

The museum offers exhibits, maritime science and history educational programs which complement state educational standards, scavenger hunts, distance learning programs, outreach speakers, lectures, research library access, research assistance, paddle boat rental, and fishing boat rental. The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Museum presents information on the history of the Lake Erie Islands area in Ohio. The museum includes a boat building and information on Oliver H. Perry (1785–1819), victor of the War of 1812's Battle of Lake Erie; Jordan Freeman, one of Perry's crewmen; the Native Americans of the area; and everyday life circa 1900. Collections include an extensive variety of model ships and one of two remaining Francis Metallic Lifeboats in the United States.

The museum offers a 15–minute introductory film, exhibits, children's programs, tours, lectures, seasonal events, a research library, and archives. Reservations are required for school groups.

The Society operates both the St. Simons Lighthouse and the Maritime Center. The Lighthouse was built in 1872 and today presents and interprets the history and culture of coastal Georgia. The Maritime Center at the Historic Coast Guard Station researches, collects, and preserves artifacts, and other memorabilia and interprets events and information pertaining to the maritime history and marine ecology of the Georgia coast—such as the history of the U.S. Coast Guard Station, the evolution of Georgia's chain of barrier islands, and the Georgia marshland ecosystem—and to present related exhibitions, promotional activities, and educational programs of interest to the general public.
