What It Looks Like
Professional development workshops often deal with large abstract themes such as democracy, freedom, or revolution. Making these broad concepts relevant to students back in the classroom can be a challenge.
Good post-visit follow-up incorporates the following elements:
- Ongoing relationship between content providers and teachers.
- Opportunities to reinforce the professional development content and strategies after the visit.
- Teachers share activities for students based on material presented during the professional development workshop.
- Students benefit from the teachers' new knowledge, skills, or experiences.
Coordinator's Role
Project coordinators can help facilitate a continued relationship between content providers and teachers. S/he can also help coordinate opportunities for teachers to continue reinforcing material and sharing ideas.
