An organization dedicated to the preservation of the memory of Thomas A. Edison, both through furthering interest and education in science and technology and through conservation of historic sites and artifacts.
The Thomas Edison House served as Thomas Edison's (1847-1931) residence between 1866 and 1868. Built circa 1850, the home now contains collections including cylinder and disc phonographs, Edison Business Phonographs, an Edison Kinetoscope, and early light bulbs. Thomas Edison is best known for his invention of the electric light bulb. However, while living at this site, his main interest was improving telegraph technology.
The house offers exhibits, period rooms, guided tours, 10 through 35-minute films, a learning module which encourages creation of student inventions, and hands-on telegraph demonstrations.
The Museum is a tribute to Delaware's native son, Eldridge Reeves Johnson, who founded the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1901. Exhibits include phonographs, recordings, memorabilia, trademarks, objects, and paintings that highlight Mr. Johnson's successful business enterprises and chronicle the development of the sound-recording industry.

A vast database of Thomas Edison's papers, this website includes 71,000 pages of correspondence, 12,000 pages of technical drawings, and more than 13,000 clippings about the inventor from 103 journals and newspapers. The site boasts over five million pages of documents related to Edison. Processes for searching the site are complicated, but an extensive guide offers search strategies.
Materials include 2,210 facsimiles of Edison patents from 1868 to 1931 for products such as the electric lamp and the phonograph. A collection of 14 photographs, maps, and prints depict Edison, his environs, and his inventions. The site offers a "Document Sampler" of 23 selections of general interest as well as an 8,000-word essay on Edison's companies, 22 pages about Edison and the development of the motion picture industry, and two chronologies. A bibliography directs visitors to more than 70 books and articles and 21 related websites.
